So we just got home from the Patriot and had the pleasure of staying in the 'Generator Lot' for 6 days.  I'm glad we did and loved that we were 'onsite'.  The parking lot was a complete trainwreck but we lucked out in where we were parked, between two curbs, that no one could block us in or park on top of us.  We were walking distance to the stalls if need be and right next to the exit.  This was the first time I've stayed that long without power or water connections.  I learned some things and am wondering about some others.  Like...

How many gallons of gas does your generator burn in a day?  How many gallons does yor tank hold?  Thankfully I had put a 5 gallon gas can in the truck but dang...  I had to refill it about every 20 hours.  Next time I'll bring more gas cans.

How many showers do you usually get before you run out of fresh water or fill up the grey water tank?  In my motorhome, three females and a male could take showers nearly every day (not wash hair every day) for about 4 days.  It was just two females this time and we ran out of water on the 6th morning.

How many days do you usually last before you fill up the black tank?  We were ultra careful and made it the whole trip.

How do you know how much propane you have left?  I've been told the gauges you can add to fitting don't really work all that great.

Do any of the gauges actually work on any of the tanks?  My panel inside has said my grey and black tanks are full most of the time and I know I've emptied them repeatedly.  My motorhome used to do this too so I know not to really believe what they say.

What are some tips I need to know before I do this again?

I will never own a gas generator again after having my propane generator roof mounted! I have 2 of the bigger propane tanks and can go about 3 days per tank. You can always drain grey tank into a bucket and put it down the drain. Black just depends on how much you use it. I also bought a 53 gallon extra water tank that's mounted in my front horse stall. I can use it for horses on the road, or to refill fresh water tank in the trailer. For propane level get the strips that go on side of the tank. Pour hot water on it and it tells you. My trailer has the regulator that turns red when one tank is empty , then you know your on your last one.

We lived in our LQ with the generator running for 10 days recently when the Texas ice storm left us without power. Seems like we a filled it about every other day or 2... it never got below a 1/4 of a tank. My husband will only use non ethanol fuel in it. We have dual propane bottles and I think the entire time we only switched out once, plus we have a 100lb propane tank we keep around that's filled. We used 2 space heaters inside mostly to try to save on propane because we didn't know how long propane would be available.  Can't comment on the water part because a piece to the water pump busted off and we couldn't use it anyway during that time. I believe our indicators work accurately.  But yes, when we lived in an RV for a year it seems like our black and grey were constantly full, the sensors were off.. someone told us to "flush " the tanks with water and a gentle cleaner and it would fix it. We use that orange stuff you can buy at an RV center and put in the tanks to keep things from getting funky in there.
