My husband might be getting a job on the East coast.. we could basically live anywhere on the middle/Eastern states and we are thinking North Carolina or Tennesee (possibly Kentucky) might be a good place to settle.. we would like about 10 acres and not be more than an hour from a major city (for airport access). Would you recommend these states? Any advice? We were thinking maybe Greensboro area.  Thanks!

North Carolina here! We are in the center of the state (almost exactly) and just under an hour south of Greensboro, an hour southwest of Raleigh, and a tad over an hour northeast of Charlotte. The housing market here is insane but it would be a good choice. You can be at either the beach or the mountains within a couple hours drive. The weather is slightly bi-polar and you can expect to experience all four seasons within a couple days time frame! 

The barrel racing is pretty good here too - not Texas by any means - but there are usually a couple choices each weekend within a 2 hour drive and several weekly jackpot series, Friday night shows, and Sunday afternoon shows.
