Location: North Dakota | I am considering Major Medical Insurance for a horse but quite honestly, I've never had it before and know nothing about it. (I have had mortality coverage before but *knock on wood* have never had to file a claim) Waste of money? Worth it? How much does the insurance dictate what you can and can't do for medical decisions for your horse? Looking for any and all advice on those that have had major medical coverage on a horse. |

| Worth it 100%. It save my a** this last year - I had a severed tendon, navicular, and proximal suspensory injury. You can do whatever you want, they just decide what and how much they will cover which will be outlined in your policy. |

Location: South Georgia | It has saved me THOUSANDS in medical care, and allowed me to do things I wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise. In my eyes, it is more practical than the mortality aspect, because we can pretty much rely on our horses to have some medical needs that are out of the norm. They hurt themselves doing nothing! lol It is not as often that I have a death, etc. |

| I agree!!! I did PRP, several rounds of shockwave, MRI, countless ultrasounds and xrays. I think I would have needed to take out a loan if I wanted to do those things without insurance! |

Location: Not Where I Want to Be | Unless insuring a Sixish figure valued steed for mortality horse insurance is a scam. |
