I had a guy lined up last summer to start my now 3 year filly this spring, but had to retire do to health issues. Now I'm in hard spot. I have used this goy for the last 15 years. How do you screen trainer that they aren't going to wreck your horse or not do much and charge you like they did? Thank you

Word of mouth and personal recommendations from clients. My SIL starts a lot of colts, and puts a handle on many that are broke but are deficient in basic skills. His clients come as a result of happy customers. He is currently booked solid thru late fall. He is extremely conscientious about communicating with owners, letting them know how their horses are progressing. He sends video regularly and often faces times while riding.

I always go by references from people I know and trust. I was burned once and learned to do my homework after that. I don't have a probably with reaching out to trainers in other disciplines either.
