Hey all! I was wondering if I could get some help. This mare has been a pain in my but to try and fit a saddle on. Right now we have a Deb sibley 7inch gullet with flex tree that I really love but it has become too narrow in the shoulders as she has bulked up. Any ideas what saddles to look? Right now I am either looking at a Robbie Phillips or a 7 saddle. I am leaning towards the 7 but all inpute in any saddle brands is appreciated. TIA

Oh wow! She almost looks like you would have a bridging problem. Try shimming under the saddle seat. Clinton Anderson used to make a pad that was cut out instead of built up over shoulders.

I would suggest taking your horse to a saddle fitter. Have your horse fitted for a saddle. It is well worth it instead of guessing & buying a zillion saddles & finding out none of them fit.

Yes, bridging has been a issue. I can try and shim in the middle and see how that works. I did not know about that kind of saddle pad,
I will look for that, thank you. I wish I had a saddle fitter near me, but I do not. I have a tack consignment store that
I can use my no active fitters near me.

You need to try saddles with some rock to them.

A Double J # 10 tree has flare and rock to it also.

If you can find a Meleta Brown Freedom saddle to try you may like it, the older ones have more flare to them with rock.
