How important are the barrel incentives to buyers when looking for a prospect. I am trying to decide on a young one to start and resale.  I have been trying to find one that is in some incentives but not having much luck.

As someone who would rather have a "rodeo" horse and has never and has no intentions of raising babies or really even futurity a horse (unless there was one that just was outstanding) I really don't have a dog in this fight but I have often wondered is where is the stopping point on how much someone can spend on paying babies in for resale or personal use. Out of curiosity what are the costs for each incentive?

For me, incentives were very important but I was specifically looking for a futurity prospect. Several I inquired about hadn't been paid into their eligible incentives and I can tell you it turned me off. I did find a 2 year old that checked all my boxes and late paid him into Triple Crown 100 since that was the only one he wasn't paid into but that was only $400 late fee. Incentives can be pricey but if there are races in your area with the added incentive money, it's worth it. I have an ASNY coming next year and plan on paying that baby into just about every incentive it's eligible for.

I don't care about incentives... if I like a colt, I buy a colt... ;

Future Fortunes is 150 if you pay them before they turn a year.  One time pay. goes up after they are a yearling.

Pink and Ruby are 250 per year ( I am not sure on that one )

Breeders Challange is weanling 250 one time pay yearling 1250 and goes up from there.

I do not know on the others. To me FF and Breeders challange are worth the money to pay them in as weanlings.  I have two that are current in Ruby Buckle, I am on the fence about paying yearly.
