This is Horrible what is happening in Afghanistan. Prayers for all that is/was at the American Embassy and now holed up at Kabul airport, I feel so bad for all those people that are begging to be let on the planes to get out of their own country for safety while the Taliban takes control..

They will have left too quickly to have documentation with them.  Then there's Covid to deal with.

I hate this.  The people of Afghanistan have lost their homes, stores, workplaces and the Taliban have control of the banks.  Anyone who assisted our soldiers will be slaughtered.  Even liberal media can't defend this.

I did not know this about 30,000 Afghanistan's refugees coming to Texas untill you posted this and then I saw this on our news last night, Coming into Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas. Most coming under Special Immigrant visa and employed by the US Government now and in the past. Alot of them will be living here in Texas. I did not realize so many worked for the US, so the ones that are being evaccuated right now are the ones that did work for our government along with their familys? 

Everything is in such turmoil I don't think anyone knows anything for certain.  I keep seeing Dearborn, MI in my mind and St. Paul, MN.  When Muslims settle in a district they don't assimilate with Americans.  They turn that area into a Muslim community.  Even many buildings in Dearborn are now Middle East architecture and the signs across stores like Subway are in Arabic. 

....and isn't it ironic that Joe hates Texas and Florida and this is where the migrants are being funneled.

Supposedly we still maintain control of the airport but it is surrounded.  You have to have a Taliban passport to get out.   What a sh** show.   

The generals have been an abysmall failure since the beginning of the war. Our son came back from Afghanistan last year after closing a forward special ops base and training Partner Forces which were later murdered ( their death captured on film and broacast on TV) by the Taliban. 

His men knew then that the partner forces couldn't stand on their own without us, but they followed orders.   We were shocked when our son told us his ODA team had been ordered back to the abandoned base  later because the partner forces refused to take over without the Americans there and the Taliban were threatening to take over the base.  

Yet this integral "ground intelligence" apparently never made it to the top.

Lesson?  Always listen to the guy on the ground.

That would be a given in any other type of warfare.

How many are going to feel like their efforts were pointless and what is this going to do to the suicide rate for veterans right now. They gave kids learning opportunities to be able to have the the tools to at least try to get out if they haven't already. My son spent more time in Afghanistan than at his home.  He teammates died - some of cancer caused by toxins Special Op's are exposed to.  Some by suicide - some by training accidents.  Leaving Afghanistan was a good thing but not in this fashion.   Biden knowingly left without leaving us without as much as an airbase.  Republicans and Dem's alike are outraged.  This is American Outrage and is should not  be partisan.

BIG PICTURE---it showed our leadership as WEAK, rumor is that China is fixing to invade Taiwan---which we are responsible to defend ?? Miller had my son's team go to back to Helmand last year when Afghan Forces freaked when they left - they would not abandon them and they were not confident to fight on their own.  Those Afghan Nationals he trained on missions were shot to death ( as shown on the news) by the Taliban.  It was an awful thing to watch.  Among those was Col. Sohrab Azimi - please look him up as he was schooled in Leavenworth, Kansas.  The son of Afghan Royality.  He fought hard and murdered by the Taliban.  His death hit me particually hard as I knew how closely he had worked with my son and the relationship they had built.  I have dozens of these stories....

Love Trump or hate him.  This would not of happened on his watch.  

And now Russia and China are practically BFF's with them and welcomed them. Thats a whole other can of worms that won't be good for anyone

There could of been interpreters on the aircraft - it is possible but not the entire aircraft.

I am guessing they took the equipment from Partner Forces when the Taliban lodged their offensive to regain Afghanistan.   The Taliban had been gaining ground since March of 2020 when the United States quit offensive missions.  In my opinion that was the right move because enough of our men had died for the  Afghans.  However we were keeping a footprint in Afghanistan to ensure America would not be attacked again.  I do not know how much of a footprint but Trump did also want to bring all our troops home.  But  Trump ( unlike Biden)  actually listened to his advisors and let them call the shots  ( General Scott Miller)    

Biden was warned and he should of known and he had been listening to the guys on the ground he would of known..    Maybe he did know...and didn't care?  Who can tell since the man is barely coherent.  Not trying to be disrespectful but it is true. 

Biden cant commit to the rescuing of the Afghan translators that help and saved soliders lives, these men were promised a safe life and now they have been throw under the bus. And now they cant even guarantee the safety of the Americans that were left behind. 

I hope that all the people that wanted this man in office realize what a BIG MISTAKE he was to the American people, he left us weak and now put us all in a path for another terrorist attack.

I have been wondering, who supplys these Taliban food, do they grown their own, do they farm, raise cattle, chickens, its all dry and nothing but desert there, just a though. I know the Taliban steal most everything they have but I just wonder what the Afghan people do for food also.

Every time I see any news about Afghanistan its always so hot and dry looking there and never see any live stock, no grass, but yept goats can live on just about anything, so that would be a good sorce of food and milk, I didnt think about that, thanks Flint..

I did see one journalist standing in a field and you could see lots of livestock in the background.  They were too far in the distance to see them very well but looked like cattle.

I googled Alfghanistan and some really pretty places did come up, so there is nice places that you can raise meat animals on and grow crops. I gress they are just showing the bad side and very populated areas and desert looking places. All the miltary pictures that I have seen look like they are in a desert, we have friends that were serving over there and the pictures backgrounds looked the same nothing but desert and super dry looking. 

But since the Taliban took it all over and all the people are being killed I wonder how the food situation will be in a few months, and I wonder with all the Afghan people that are on the run and hiding what are they eating, food has got to be getting scarce for them.

American's are being beat by the Taliban.   Other countries are sending in their Special Op's soldiers to rescue their citizens.   Why are we sitting on our hands?

Pen's rescue was relatively unknown until this chaos in Kabul.   He is a political - probably leans to the left.    For me it is interesting to hear views form citizens of foreign countries....and the sentiment is all the same.  The US royally screwed up.  

I have watched four Dem contributors on FOX giving their views on Afghanistan.  One is Debbie Dingell.  They don't get 10 seconds into their conversation before they bring up Trump.  Evidently his timeline for getting out of Afghanistan was May 1 and this is supposed to have influenced the outcome of what's happening today.  Really?  Trump......first civilians, then equipment, then the military, and a stern warning to the Taliban to back off or face the consequences.

Yep Trump had a plan with that timeline of May which the dems are not including in that conversation.   

It has been one crisis after another with ole Joe and the dems spinning each one to blame on Trump.  Now Afghanistan is Trump's fault because he had a timeline of May.  So let me get this straight.  All of a sudden ole Joe has decided to stick with something Trump put in place? 

We all know had this been in anyway Trump's fault, crazy Nancy would be pushing for another impeachment.  We all know she makes up the rules as she goes when it comes to Trump.  However she may be crazy but not stupid.  There is no way she is going to bring any of these Biden/Harris crisis to the forefront for the public to think on.

That was the original agreement and if you recall Trump wanted all troops out by Dec 24, 2020 but his advisors told him that was impossible and the Biden became the President elect.  The original agreement was for all troops to be out by May 1 which was the last dam of Ramadan.   To be fair leaving the equpiment behind is not solely on Biden.  It was left for Afghan Nationals who almost immedately fell to the Taliban.   The Taliban were biding their time waiting for Amerians to leave.  It would not matter if we were in Afghanistan 100 years their plans were alwasy to take over.     That is why it was imperative we left an airstrip and counter terrorism teams.   I have very good friends that insist that we should not have left a footprint at all in AFG - and those are Green Beret friends with 8 deployments.   In hindsight I believe we should of kept and airbase and an ODA Team ...the Taliban fear our airpower.    Under the Trump Administration the United States pounded the Taliban with airstrikes.  We beat the living crap of them.    Dan Crenshaw who I agree with on majority was stating we had not run offensive missions since 2014,   he is completly wrong on that and honestly did not play a big role in Afghanistan.   So everything a politician/pundit says on TV must be fact checked.  I heart Krystal Knight ( Dem Strategist) boldly state that Biden was the only one who got us out of Afghanistan.   That was a complete lie - Biden got us INTO AFG again.  He did inherit the Peace Agreement but he bailed out instead of following the strict performance mandates set by the Trump Admin.    It has been rumored that there will be documents stating that Biden was planning an huge vicotry lap on September 11 which is why the August 31st date was so important.  Remember this is the party that brought us Benghazi.

If Biden and the Dem's are blaming Trump then why were they planning a huge September 11 victory party claiming they ended the war?    Can't have it both ways.

Updated to add that the leader of Northern Alliance has now pledged his support to the Taliban.  Which means that his family killed or threatened or maimed.    The situation keeps getting worse.  

Please remember Bush/ Cheney/Rumsfield started the nation building rather than finishing the mission and Obama/ Biden continued it but did not offer our soliders enough support to make any difference in the War on Terror.   

As we thought would happen retired Special Operators are going into Kabul to rescue people.  They will not have Close Air Support.   United States does not abandon their men on the battle field. These brave men will risk their lives for the love of their country.

Big news from Nowzad.  They have hired a private transport for their staff and about 91 animals ( which will be transported in the cargo bay)  human evacuations will take priority of course but many of the animals will leave.  The dogs that can't make the trip have been humanly euthanized.

I think the wording of their "we will get any American's that want out of Afghanastan out" is interesting....with this administration it really means "Hey, if they didn't show up at the airport they must not have wanted out...our hands are clean on this one, must be Trump's fault".  They are the master's of splitting hairs. 

I'm wondering if we're not going to be open borders for the whole country of Afghanistan.   AOC is already on that like a duck on a junebug.

I think though that the Taliban will need the educated Afghans to operate the equipment that Joe basically handed over to them....

I just saw your post Mary and turned on Fox and Newsmax, and now there is a second explosion. The attack on the airport is horrible, this nightmare will never end for these people. They dont know how many killed but there is some US Troops hurt or worst.

We are in Ft. Walton visiting our son.  The situation is very grim indeed.  There really is very little the United States can do without serious bloodshed on civilians as a consequence. It's devastating.  

Gail I have been following Pen/Nowzad updates, but theres not been any updates for the last 3 to 4 days, have you heard anything about him and his staff? I know the flight out for them was a failed mission. I hope and pray that they are staying safe if thats possible.

I believe they ( Nowad) are at the airport at Kabul or enroute. The British Government made special arrangements for Pen and Nowzad Staff and Animals to get a landing permit.  The other resuce we support - Kabul Small Animal Rescue has not been so fortuante.  The founder is an American - they are trying to fundraise a charter to get out.   Rescue dogs are not allow to evacuate - this includes service dogs.  Charlotte Maxwell is the founder of Kabul Small Animal Rescue, stayed behind to care for all the abandoned animals.  It has been reported that the Taliban have been searching for the bomb sniffing dogs to cut their noses off to they can't work.   Even if she raises the money for a charter the Biden Administration will not let them land the United States due to the a CDC restriction.   Of course humans are more important that people but all of us as animal lovers can understand the bond we have with our animals. 

Kabul Small Animal Rescue should be evacuated tonight by the United States Military.  The rescue dogs will be transported also.   Nowzad founder Pen Farther and animals left Kabul yesterday for the UK but the staff was unable to depart.

So many left to evacuate.  So many of our Afghan Allies who will be left behind face certain persecution.   

It is a good day to be grateful for all that is America today - our freedom never to be taken for granted.

I've heard the remarks directly from the parents of at least four of these families.  They totally blame Joe Biden for the death of their children and they hate him.  At Dover when the caskets were being received, Joe didn't just look at his watch once as you've probably seen, the father of Daegan Page said Biden looked at his watch every time a casket was removed from the cargo plane.  He simply didn't have time for this.  He also spoke to a couple of the family members and instead of focusing on their child he whined about losing his son Beau to cancer.  They didn't want to hear this.   He even rolled his eyes at one mother who had the nerve to get up in his face.

Remember how classy and beautiful Melania always looked at these somber events or any event for that matter.  Jill Biden wore flat shoes and looked totally disheveled.  Yes the wind was blowing and it was damp but that never stopped Melania.
