I realize this can vary on a case by case (horse) basis. However this is my first time sending a horse to a trainer. We just wrapped up the first 30 days and planning on leaving him for an additional 30.

Horse had some ground work and handling before going and had been saddled once. Tied and handled on a daily basis with some roundpenning..ect..

What is a reasonable expectation for a 2 year old to have learned in the first 30 to 60 days. Trainer is incredibly reputable in our area and I am really excited to see how he has progressed with her after 30 days and then after 60 days!!

I'm no expert but I'd expect between 10-15 rides. Not old lady safe yet at 30 days. After 60 days, I'd expect the horse to be loping nice big circles in both directions and reasonably safe to mount and ride in a pen. Basic plow reining skills and moving away from leg pressure, backing decently.

I expect them fancy broke after 18 months.  Anything else depends so much on the horse.  Most horses though can lope a circle after 30 days, but I wouldnt say its pretty or easy.

I sent mine last year as a 2 year old to get 30 days. Before she went she had been sat on/walked a few steps by my mom (who maybe weighs 115), had done alot of groundwork, been ground driven, hauled (dont like leaving her home alone when go to shows), and messed with. She came back able to walk/trot/canter circles, giving to the bit, hauled and ridden around holding pen at a show and starting to sidepass. I also take lessons with my open horses with said trainer so would go over and watch a bunch. Sent her back this year for about 2 weeks to get some consistent rides and ridden with other people before a clinic.
