Yes it was the complications that Covid added on top of his blood cancer and his Parkinson's, just added more things that his body had to try to fight, I think its just so sad for him, even if he was not liked still sad. He did alot but got caught up in crap.. This man had been fully vaccinated

Now the vaccine gang is trying to blame it on the fact that maybe he needed a booster.
He was scheduled to get his booster but was not feeling well. Would he have died of Parkinson's? Would he have died of blood cancer? Yes, eventually .... but the Covid virus accelerated his death! Additionally, NO vaccine is 100% "foolproof"! It is pretty hard to match his military and political accomplishments. He was liked by Republican AND Democratic Presidents. He did say that he regretted his stance on the Iraq war but was given "faulty" intel. |

I know it is hard for any one who probably NEVER served or didn't get above any low ranking to respect ANY military personnel ..... I will match Powell's military record and commendations to yours ANY DAY ......... |

| General Powell was a soldier for 35 years, rising from the ranks of 2LT to Four Star General. He deployed to combat in Viet Cong and was subjected to Agent Orange which may of caused the blood cancer he had. Although I disagreed with him politically on many issues I won't judge his patriotism. Are we not allowed now to disagree with someone without tearing them apart? A good deal of my friends who served in Iraq have been cynical towards him and his death. Although I understand their sentiments I disagree about the taking down a man after he has passed who did what he thought was best for our country. I have a friend ( a journalist) who was very good friends with General Powell. She had lunch with him often. They argued about politics ( she is a hard core Conservative) but at the end of they day they stayed great friends as both loved their country dearly. This is a good time to remind folks that "Lulu's Laws" need to apply here. Be kind. Be civil. Argue your point but don't make personal attacks. The best way to honor Lulu is make BHW a better place. OK - I will get off my soap box now. |

Why do you call General Powell a traitor? I didnt see him as a traitor and hope nobody else did either, I have alot of respect for this man, even if his Political views did swing left at times..But he seem honest and sincere when it came to fighting for America.. And we all know that he was a fighter.. |

Many of our veterans feel that way also. Braxton McCoy is a good friend of ours. He was blown up in Ramadi in 2006 while performing security detail by a suicide bomber. He felt like both Bush, Rumsfeld and Powell lied about weapons of mass destruction and Iraq. Personally I feel like those 3 men had bad intel and made a terrible decision that cost so many American lives and limbs. Braxon on the death of Rumsfeld and Powell called out the lives lost that those men cost us. He did not have kind words for either one. But in war there will be bad decisions. Braxton lost several friends who died in that blast - he has every reason to dislike our government and those calling the shots. Read his book " The Glass Factory" if you get a chance. He also trains colts in Idaho. He is a good friend and good guy. Really - how much should we trust our elected officials, our generals, the Pentagon? Just because one votes with the party you support doesn't mean they are alwasy right. ( pardon the pun). For me bitterness is hard to swallow. The older you get the more you try and find the positive. Life is hard. Treasure your good friends and look for the best in people. Sounds corny but for me it helps. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | The though never crossed my mind that General Powell would get disrespected on here, I was not thinking the political side of him I was thinking the General side, (I know he made some screw ups that caused lives to be lost), the fighter and protector of America.. Thank you for explaning to me why hes disliked by some on here. I was just looking at him as a Great man that loved taking care of what he loved, I still think he was a Great General, but the political side I was not to thrilled about at times, lol.. But then theres a few of the Military Men in Politic's now (that should be gone/not there) that I could care less for, so I guess everybody has their likes and dislikes.. |

Location: SW MO | No one is perfect, not one of us. A thread about someone passing needs to be treated with respect. One matter who the person is or what you feel about them, they leave behind loved ones. People who could use a prayer. Each day it's up to you to turn it all around. You can be a negative Nelly or you can be compassionate and bring some sunshine to the world. This has been such a dark time for our country the last 2 years if we all tried to bring a little light to each day it might help things. |
