I'm buying a 10' shortwall LQ trailer but she wants to keep her generator. I know nothing about generators since this is my first LQ trailer. What is a good, quiet, somewhat small size generator that is powerful enough to run everything and not crazy expensive? Any tips appreciated!

The nice and quiet ones are not cheap. Honda, onan, etc. there are some 3-500.00 portable ones that are LOUD but cheaper. There really is not much in between.

Why not just get the details of this generator on the trailer you are buying and get the same brand?

You will want a generator that is "3000" watts to be able to power the a/c.  From my experince with a lq, you can power everything but the A/C and run the microwave at the same time with that power. We just shut the A/C off if running the microvave for the couple minutes.

As far as noise levels, the Honda 3000 is the quietest.  Had a Polaris for a while, and it was pretty quiet too.  The cheap ones are cheap for a reson, they are loud.

I decided to go with the Champion 4650 inverter generator which is 3650 running watts. I ran it last night with a very small load for the 5 hour break in period and it was extremely quiet. of course i expect it to be a bit louder with a full load on it. i plan to change the oil as required and then plug my trailer in to it to test it out hopefully tonight.
