Hey all!! I knew it would probably happen but my recovered laminitic horse got an abscess once the rain started. Did your normal soaking / wrap for 5 days still didn't break. Took him to vet and we pulled his shoe and sure enough , black grey pus drained out the bottom. Shoer came couple days later and dug it out and modified a shoe to allow it to drain. The near impossible task is trying to keep his feet DRY. He loves to simply stand in the rain , mud. He loves it. I have kind of solved that issue with wrapping his feet in  zip lock bags. ( kind of genius and I might patent it. Lolol

It's been two weeks and he is not 3 legged anymore but he is still gimpy. Any other suggestions I can try? Thanks !

I had a similar situation recently and my farrier who happens to also be a vet recommended I wrap my mare's hoof in "Today" by Boehringer Ingleheim (it's a mastitis treatment for cows). Wrapped for 3 days and she went from crippled to completely fine. Also Woof Wear makes zip on treatment boots. They're about $60 a piece. I swear I'm going to buy some everytime I'm fiddling with baby diapers and duct tape!

Isoxiprine.  helps with the blood flow which helps with new hoof growth.  Get that old hoof tissue grown out.
