Just had the farrier come yesturday and trimmed my gelding and put new shoes on. This horse has had shoes on most likely all his life. Really like this farrier he has shod horses for us for a while now and nothing has ever happened. But came out this morning and one of the two horses that were done but this guy has a bit of swelling in both front legs more so in the left than right. Could this be from just being a little long and then being reset, are his thendons just a little stretched and trying to get used to how his foot is now set? Also did plan on running him tmw at a local jackpot. Should he be off if there is or isn't any still swelling tomorrow morning? I think I know what I need to do if so but call me a newbie or say it's a stupid question but wanted to know everybodies thoughts before I decide what to do. Thanks!

I wouldnt run him. Never run a horse who has swelling of any kind. Cold hose soak for 20 minutes each leg. If he's sore you can give him 1 gram of bute. If the swelling doesn't go away, time for the vet to look at him.
