SW Fla definetly got spanked on this one.  My husband works for the county and was out all night working at Matlacha.  He was showing me pictures and one of the roads was just gone...now a chanel full of water.  Pine Island and surrounding areas, also Arcadia sustained extreme flooding/damage.

Power restoration in some areas is problematic due to the amount of debris/devastation.

Pray for these folks and all the people helping get them back up to speed.

The plant nursery I work at is still running off generators, lots of damage and repairs are going faster than I thought they woud.

For many their homes are gone, their cars, their jobs.......banks, grocery stores.  Total devastation. No flood insurance.  Looters.

Can you imagine the mosquito population given the standing water for weeks to come.

Tragedy can happen anywhere to anyone. My house burned to the ground several years ago. Why tempt fate by living below sea level or at the edge of an ocean? I've never understood why the government jumps in to rebuild New Orleans. You KNOW it's going to happen.
