Anyone have any experience in dealing with this diagnosis on the hind end? Tell me the good bad and ugly.... unfortunately my horse (that coliced on me at the world show last year - emergency trip to Auburn for surgery on the first day of the show) has been diagnosed with SBD. When we brought him back after his time off from surgery (almost 6 months - i was paranoid and absolutely didnt want to rush) he was making a solid come back but i noticed he would feel "off" in the hind end from time to time. Had the vet out --> had X-rays done and then ultrasounds revealed the small tears. I've not ridden him since and this was mid August when the diagnosis was made. I've mainly just been giving him all the turn out time i can ( which is usually 24/7 weather permitting). I feel like i can see that his hocks have dropped some..more so than they used to be (or im just looking entirely too hard at him daily lol) The vet I used leaned heavily towards pasture pet status with occasional light riding. Which im totally fine with if thats what it has to be....but has anyone had any luck with this? I am aware that there is no "cure" for it. But just like to hear other's good/bad/ugly experiences with it. Thanks! |
