Can we talk about where horses are selling right now?

So the Pink, Ruby, & BFA sales areusually $10k-$100k sales with the most common price range being $10k-$50k. Right?

What about people that have the $3500-$10k prospects to sell? Where is the best place to list those prospects? The ones that are made well, bred well, but not the $3500 stud fee babies... Where the average Joe can shop?

Facebook groups are hard becuase they are hard to weed through, only the top posts get seen, 200 comments to go through, messages get missed etc.

I feel like here doesn't get a lot of publicity. I do like the search part for age and price range, but I feel like you pay for the add and if it ends up in the bottom due to traffic, you are less likely to get seen.

There is a new company called Tactical Equine Sales that just had their first outting and while a lot did not sell, most ending bids were $3500 - $10,000 which is the price range I am talking about and a lot of those horses were the type I am describing. I feel like with what horses appear to be going for right now and feed costs, people think their horses should also be worth double what they used to be. Not having an opinion because I feel their pain, just observing. But again, I question the traffic the horse will get.

I just looked at Gold Buckle Horse Sales tonight and they do a great job of providing professional sale quality auctions but they appear to be individual auctions per horse, so less traffic when selling individuals versus being in a group. I don't know what type of advertising you get for it. They require you to get xrays of your horse to upload, and send a "pro" to your place to expo your horse, and I didn't see their fees.

Triangle sale has really come on and looks promising, it seems to have gotten kind of big. Thoughts on it?

This is my observation of the Pink Buckle sale. Horses from the big ranches sold well. Horses from individuals sold for less than $10,000. I also noticed that after a day or two that the horses that sold cheap were listed as pulled out which brought the average selling price up considerably. I also saw that an embryo whose sire was Corona Cartel sold for $15,000. That sounds good but the stud fee on Corona Cartel is $20,000. When I commented about the sale to someone, the person promptly told me that the horses sold by individuals were out of trash mares. I did notice that some top barrel racers bought some of the horses that sold for less than $10,000 before those horses were removed. I am a small breeder and the person that made that remark has no idea what my mares are. I kind of follow those Triangle Sales and some horses look good but I can't tell you much. Find out if the Billings sales has online bidding. They have a lot of horses go through. See if you can get a catalog to see if there is anything you are interested in.
