Starting my EIPH horse on Lasix. How much Lasix (IM) do you give and how far in advance of a race? Also when and what do you give to help support horse? Thank you!!!

I only give 2.5 mL. I do it iv 3-4 hrs out.  IM you will increase that time.  I pull hay and water when I give the Lasix and have water ready when I run so he can drink immediately after.    I give electrolytes that day and depending on weather, number of runs etc, I do it days before and after.

It's going to be different for each horse, so you will have to play around with it to see what works best. I give anywhere from 3-6 cc's 4 hours out depending on weather and size of the pattern. If it was humid and a standard pattern I give 6. If it's cold and a small pattern I would give 3. You will want to give electrolytes 1 hour after giving Lasix to replenish the potassium they are losing with Lasix. I pulled water but not feed, I know some that pull both or don't pull either, so you will need to find what works best.
