Thoughts on aluminum vs steel frame lq trailers? I'm looking at a 2004 exiss event 12' short wall 3 horse trailer and it has an aluminum frame. My husband's opinion is that alum frames will not hold up as well because it is a softer metal than steel. A friend tells me that they are just fine for just highway hauling (vurses going in pastures loading cows and stuff). I have not physically seen the trailer yet because it is 8 hours away but from the pictures and description it seems to be pretty well maintained. I know everyone is going to have their own opinion, but i'm curious to hear others' experiences. Thanks

I used to think that the steel held up better, but I have owned all aluminum for years and wouldn't go back... I love them they pull so nice and mine have held up great!
My husband used to sell trailers and he will only buy the all aluminum trailers. I don't know what would happen with a lot of pasture driving, but aluminum frames hold up well.

I have owned both but prefer steel frame, aluminum skinned. I have seen a few all aluminum trailers after they were rear ended or T Boned and the aluminum frame crumples. Steel frames have a tendency to dent, not crumple.
