Has anyone used or heard of someone using an IV EPM medication? Heard there was something new going around the race tracks that was IV instead of feed through.

I was just in Bryan at Dr Honnas'. I asked him what the best new EPM treatment was. He told me Protazil. That is what I bought from him. He did not mention any IV meds. I am sure he would know what was new and working. Protazil was pretty pricey. My horse is much better.

IV Diclazuril (5 days) is what they used several yrs ago. Same active ingredient as Protazil. 1. 5 days isn't enough. 2. It can knock a horse down, that's why it's done at a vet clinic.
there's also a mix that Dr Brunk in Nebraska uses thats 5 days of double strength terramycin, banamine and Recover (antihistamine). It will make a lot of horses feel better but may not do much for epm, long term.
