I have one (sad face) that sad face doesn't even begin to explain it. How I found out was abscesses in front feet that developed very quickly one year in late may. She was 8 at the time and had not had any issues prior. Cresty neck formed and a bit of fat on her tail head. No rotation in her feet but she is very sensitive and one day out on grass you can tell she is sore. So I'm told borderline laminitic but not truly without any rotation there. Maintaining looks like weighed and slow fed hay twice a day in hay chix. Grass a couple times a week from 330 am to 5 am (only in July and August and then usually December through February depending on weather). I feed heiro supplement every day to maintain sugar levels. No grains. Grass hay only max 10% alfalfa. You can tell a body fat difference on her with a 3 lb hay increase (like fast). Its exhausting and very hard to keep her sound to be honest. We have it figured out now but it took a couple years. Good luck!!! Message me any time you have questions, I've likely had the same question and have spent hours researching resolutions.
