I hear this saying all the time.

"Getting flat around the barrel", "Coming out flat", etc.

What does that mean?

Thanks!

I guess the best way to describe it is loosing your bend kind of in the back side of the barrel. I had a horse that would go in just a little wide and kind of cut across making him flat in the backside then he would come off wide because hevlist his bend. All of this was my fault. If I had two handed him to the barrel and let him turn on his own, he would have been fine. Easier said than done.

Ok, makes sense..that's exactly what my gelding is doing at the first. He comes out so out of whack. It's only to his right, he's super stiff to the right. Noone has been able to get this out of him. He bows off every single time.

Maybe get with a good trainer to work with your horse and you. I'm not sure where you live so I can't suggest one.
