My husband and I are thinking of going to the NFR for the first time this year and I just viewed tickets. OUCH. Any advice, is it best to purchase them ahead of time? What sites are best to purchase them.. Will there be tickets left to purchase day of event? Any advice on places to stay? All advice about anything appreiated!

Thanks!

I went for the first time last year. One thing I will say is, You Will Have A Fantastic Time. Ordered my tickets in March, well my friend did. We met up in vegas. Stayed at the Mirage. Cowboy Christmas is unbelivable. The rodeo was beyong words. It was outstanding. Yes you can get tickets from people standing around selling them, but you will pay alot more by doing that. When we were at cowboy christmas there was a place in there to get tickets for that night but the ones they had were $1400 a piece. This late before the nfr, I would suggest getting tickets early when they first go on sale next year. I want to go again with a friend who has never been. We will get tickets when they first go on sale and book the hotel early. Everything sells out so quick.

I'm a season ticket holder of 10+ years.  If you are looking at the weekend tickets, it might be pricier the longer you wait.  There are always scalpers selling tickets on the streets but that is a pretty risky way to buy tickets.  Too many scammers out there.  If you are looking for weekday tickets... say Sunday - Wednesday... those are easier to find both online and in Vegas once you get there.  Cowboy Christmas usually has some to sell the day of the rodeo for the weekdays.

I recommend purchasing them before you get there.  There are credible sites like stubhub, ticketmaster, etc. but will have heavy fees.  Stubhub is the official reseller and where I list my extras if I need to.  The main way that I sell my extras is through word of mouth from a friend of a friend of a.....  through my facebook page.  I also post on a couple of facebook pages that seem to do a pretty good job of filtering out the scammers - both sellers and buyers.  I currently have Tuesday and Wednesday tickets available.  You can check out my post along with many others on the fb page "NFR Las Vegas Tickets Available".

It is exciting to be sitting in that coliseum watching it live.  My adrenaline level gets much higher watching live and in person than it gets watching it on a screen.  Even after all these years.  I went to my first one in 1994.  :)
