My mare is not bad; I just give her a little medication to focus.
I'm Currently giving her chlorpromazine before completing 1CC in the mouth. This helps, but I feel like she is relaxed but not relaxed. I can feel her heart beating at the gate. I just feel it works but maybe theirs better?
Can guanabenz be given in the mouth? like i do with the other meds. i don't mind if it takes longer.
Has anyone found it to work better compared to chlorpromazine?
she really is a great mare, but when showing slow events, I need her to focus. lol
i use her for slow evens sometimes and other times i barrel race.

I have used both chlorpromazine and guanabenz. I use chlorpromazine for those spooky horses whereas I use guanabenz for those hotter more nervous horses to lower their bloodpressue. I give both orally. My guanabenz is 20mg so I only have to give .5cc under the tongue and it seems to work just fine. Depending on the horse, sometimes I think the guanabenz takes too much out of them so I prefer chlorpromazine.
