My horse is going through it right now and I have an upcoming appointment with our sports medicine vet figure out some hind end pain that's showed up again last few weeks but my horse has recently come down with a cough and runny (yellow ) nose/ eye discharge, no fever, lymph nodes look normal as far as I can tell. Last time she was around any other horses was a 7 days before any symptoms.

My only other horse has the same symptoms and hasn't been off property in weeks.

Regular vet, via conversation- not exam, thinks viral

or bacterial infection and just wants to check temp twice a day and report back if things change.

My question is, if symptoms resolve, by the time the appointment rolls around if injections are needed is there any concern with doing close to being ill? I know you shouldn't do vaccines close to injections so I am wondering if it's similar?

I would move the appointment until you know all is clear and I would just let the vet know what's going on and get their thoughts...

You can never be to careful

Prayers for complete recovery!
