Ok -I must just have short arms, cause I think I am reaching down my rein for a turn but I end up in the middle! Any tips / tricks to reaching down the rein. I know knots but I don't feel them in a run. Ready to buy arm extensions!!!

I have long arms for my height and still do this on occasion. If I do it more than once I make myself drop my eyes (not head) and watch my hand and where I pick up the rein. That usually works for about a seasons worth of runs. I also do a lot of body-arm-forward moves in my workouts to make sure the proper reaching is not hurting and is easier.

I am a visual person so when I was trying to adjust where I was grabbing my reins, I would tie a brightly colored ribbon in a bow in the spot I wanted to grab. I would glance down to make sure I grabbed where I wanted to plus the flash of color was a reminder to get my hands in proper position.

The first suggestion vis get knot reins. Probably the best place to get them is Josey's western store. They do come with one snap but you need two, one on each end. Josey's teaches to grab the rein in the middle then slide your hand down to the knot. I saw a video of a little bitty girl running barrels and that is exactly what she did. It made me laugh and I knew she had been to a Josey clinic. AND LISTENED!
