My experience with hydrogels has not been positive, whether they were collagen based or polyacrylamide (like Arthramid). The last horse that I used Noltrex on (Polyacrylamide hydrogel) had such a severe reaction that he had to be put down. The other horse got Spryng injected into his stifles , severe reaction, stifles blew up. $5000 of vet work and 4 mo later he was close to normal.

Thanks Spryng was the other recommendation. Hope others have had better stories with using it.
I have some friends that have used Spryng and gotten along fine. I also have a friend that used Arthramid in a stifle after surgery, very good results. I think if you need a joint cushion it might be an option. If it's just for synovitis, no. Doesn't really make sense for hocks.
