Legend is great for fast acting/short life uses. Doesnt stay in the system more than about 48 hours but works great for weekends. I use polyglycan IV monthly and full adequan series twice a year. IMHO feed through supplements do not work well because they are only about 6% absorbed by the horse typically.

Thank you so much ! What was the loading dose you were using for the polyglycan? I used to use it all the time on my old mare but I am getting back into the game again and want to take all precautions. I don't mind feeding supplements, but I wanna guarantee he is getting them and it's not always the case with feed through supplements. Again thank you for your response !

No loading dose! Just 5ml monthly for mine. Your vet might have a different protcol.

Happy Friday friends !! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

I have an older navicular horse that responds well to IM injections.

I first had him on Adequan and I did the loading dose, and then once a month after that. I would notice it helped him lose his "stiffness" for about a week. Adequan was more expensive then so I just couldn't afford to give it to him more often.

We switched to pentosan with even better results and for many years, I gave it to him every 2 weeks on the nose and he did great. Until he didn't, for whatever reason.

I put him back on Adequan this year and again, he seems to be responding well. It's not as expensive as I remember (although not cheap) so I have been giving it to him every 2 weeks (after the loading dose) and that seems to be keeping his "stiffness" away.

He's the only one that I can notice when I put him on it, because because of his stiffness issues. I have had other horses on IM things before but I can't say I really notice anything with them because it's more for prevention and I can't tell a difference when they are on it.
