| This brings back some sad memories for me too. In 1986, I too had to but down my best barrel horse.(8 yr. old) It was just when the Ivermectin wormers came on the market, & a lot of people wouldn't buy it cause the tubes were so small & they didn't think that there was enough medicine in it to do any good. well I had just had all my horses tube wormed by my vet(regular basis) when my best money winning mare coliced. I rushed her to the vet & he tapped her navel & said it looked ok, but sent me to A&M(80 miles) to be sure. You know when I finnaly got there with her I felt so relieved, cause I felt they could do what ever was necessary. But I was wrong, After working with her for over 6 hours, then taking her to surgery , they came to me & said too much of her intestines had been damaged due to a twist in her gut. I had to give the ok for them to put her down. They said, you know, she's in heat. Why they said this to me I'll never know... They sent me an autopsy several weeks latter, & it confirmed, she died from worms...
But I still miss the great little mare" Stoppa Jet Heels" by Jet Stop & own daughter of Pacific Bailey. |

| Great story Giddy. I went thru a similar experience last summer. Talking to my girls about, BoBO's death, was one of the hardest things I've done.
