Location: Somewhere Down in Texas | What do you think of St Croix'sa eventers? I've been using em but am in the opinion they might make my hors e a little sore in the back end. My farrier uses em on calf horses and says he hasn't had a problem, he's very competint (sp?) but was just wondering your opinion on them all the way around. |

Location: Alabama | Actually, I LOVE them. Very versital shoe Have they recently been put on your horse and that's why you think they are making him sore? What I mean is, is this something new going on? They are a real nice wide web shoe and offer lot's of support, so unless there is another reason or something in the application (like sole pressure) I don't see why they would cause soreness issues. | Hey Jos-we took the Eventers OFF Fred. Although i liked the fact that they were wider and gave him more support, they did not give him enough grip. (because they are wider) Right now we have the sidewinders on the front and st crios lite rims on the back and he hasn';t slipped and has placed evertime i have run him.(knocking on wood). |

Location: Somewhere Down in Texas | See now I am under the impression that they offer more grip than a rim shoe? I guess I should ask more questions. Its not my horse actually I am worried about its another we have and she's extremely setty and has alot of stifle and hock trouble and I was thinking they might be to grabby on a horse that sets like she does. |

| if you remember Jos-i posted a while back abt my horse slipping?? when i sid i had eventers on the rear, i got lot of pm's saying they might be my problem. -all i know is he's doing much better in the rims. Look at it this way-reining shoes are wider so they will slide and not grip into the ground. the evernter are wider than a rim, but not as wide as reiner or roping shoes. Argg-isn't it frustrating???? |

Location: Alabama | Ok, now with the additional info I have a suggestion for you. Go to: www.hopeforsoundness.com and click on the link for products. Once the page pulls up click on the top left block for Performance and once that page loads scroll down until you get to World Race Plates and read that information. That may be something you might suggest using on this horse. Anyone can order the shoes off that website. Even you. Debi |

Location: Somewhere Down in Texas | I opted to wait and go to Antle who is better tomaro. I trust him I had never used the other guy. I convinced both boss' I'd be much more industrious if I knew what was wrong with my horse and wasn't worrying about it so for hte sake of my sanity they gave me the day off. |

| Hey Jos, I hope you find out what's up with Jag, and I hope it's easily fixed. On the Eventers thing, they offer more support, but no more traction, in fact probably less. The more steel you have against the ground, the less traction you have (think slide plates on reiners). Another little piece of info I learned is that on rim shoes, they get their traction from the dirt that packs into the rim of the shoe. Dirt gives traction, for instance the boy toy shoes his calf horse with extra wides on behind because she stops almost too hard and he tries to shoe her to get a little slide into her stop to give him just a split second more time to get off. He also shoes her with the heels of the shoe a little wider on her hind feet on the theory that this lets the dirt kick on out easier to help with the slide thing. |

Totally accurate info on this post...dirt against dirt offers traction. It works on most any substance when you place it against itself you get traction taking place. |

| Farrierlady, thanks for the validation. I am always a little nervous posting something like this because I don't want to misspeak and write something inaccurate! Thanks again. |

You just got to get mean and mean it.
Location: Arkansas | When Marlene McRae had her forum on the other board, one question ask was about shoeing. She posted in detail how Doug shoe's her horses. He uses St. Croix Lite Rim's. |
