You can either attach a photo by checking the box that says "Attach a file to this thread after posting" below the submit button. Or...the easy way. Click the little picture above the test box, that you see before you post. Ok...was that clear?

I'm not 100% positive that its the same, but Babcock (sp?) Ranch has a brand very similar.  Anyone know for sure?

Just checked their website, and it is the same brand.  Now, its not to say that its not a copycat since most people don't check to see if a brand is already taken before they decide to use it, but pretty sure its probably a Babcock horse.

It means that your boy hooked up with one awful nice mare with alot of history behind her.  I'd say he's been blessed with a good one to gain his confidence back.  You can probably pull up the Babcock Ranch on the internet and see the brand.

Yes its the right hip. Her papers only have one owner listed and says the rest are on file in the AQHA office but the owner when she was born was in Rio Grande City Texas.

Was he really unusally colored?  Like dark gray and white?  If so, I remember seeing him.  I was on an appy as well.  I don't run in the ribbon classes, only jackpot.

Well as usual my board buddies were a wealth of knowledge I did an owner search on AQHA last night and yes a Jim Babcock did own her from the time she was 6 till she was 13. I didn't do a performace search because I ran out of AQHA dollars but April 1 I will. I do know I was blessed to find such a great horse for my son and she is that. And to clear it up its not the mares eyesight that is failing but here former owners. Her former owner is a younger women who used to do cutting but is going blind and now showing AQHA trail classes. Thank You so much for all you guys help its so greatly appericated.

I couldn't wait to get home last night to tell my husband about your find.  I'm so excited for you and the grand old lady and for your boy.  I don't know about the Babcock Ranch but 20 years ago alot of the big ranches only branded the 'good' ones!!

Your not kidding. Good bye to the ponys. The only reason I was leary at all was her age I have never had an older horse I usally sell them by 14. She is a wonderful old girl though. I don't have her papers with me but I can tell you some names on them. One of the reasons I was surpise to see the names on her papers was because alot it seemed like running blood and I knew she had been a cutting horse. On Her daddys side it was Azure Jet, Azure Te, Jet Deck, Blue One and thats all I rember off hand. On the Dams side it was Swing Liza, Swing Hand, Bills Eliza, Mendiaotia(sp?), thats all I can rember on dams side when I look at her papers again I'll let you know more. Also the only other owners on her papers where a Averitt and there name was on there twice, Narrvo, and the lady I bought her from.

That old blood was pretty versatile  and thats why I think they were so good.  It's gotten alot more specialized now..(halter horses, speed horses, cow horses etc)...don't know if thats good or bad.  but I guess in another 25 years we'll have a pretty good ideahow its going and may have created our own Legends by then!!
