Location: Doylestown, OH | I had started a post a couple of weeks ago about my sore horse and how frustrated I was. You all were so helpful and pointed out that he might have herpes syndrome. I began treatment and saw some improvement until this past weekend when he crashed the third day of a 3 day race (bad pain~had to scratch). Last night I took him to the accupuncture vet. He positively diagnosed the herpes and said that I was doing everything right treatment wise. He added a series of injections of Traumeel-s and echinacea and acupuncture treatments as needed. We are hoping that this will get him running and then we will just see where to go from here. I just really wanted to thank everyone, especially SG, for all of the informantion and suggestions. You all are really great! I may have messed around with this horses hocks, etc. for a long time and totally missed the herpes. It is because of this board that I may have my horse back sooner rather than later!!!! Buddy Belue thanks you too!!! |

Location: Here | I think you are right on track!!!!! Just remember when and/if you vaccinate boost the heck out of his immune system prior and after wards and don't haul for a week to 10 days. Chemical worming was a no no for mine.... Silverliningherbs worm foe and tlc's DE worked for mine... GOod luck and it won't be long you can go back to hauling them hard. |
