Location: in texas now! | Okay I am bored this morning-up way to early by my standards!! What kind of rig does everyone have? Truck , trailers, campers, etc? I have an older ford four door dually, that is broke down right now. I am looking into an overhead camper to go on it. I am also looking for another trailer, I want a 3 horse slant, bumper pull with tack. Also I would be interested in knowing if you have had a cabover camper, likes and dislikes? This would not be my everyday vehicle just to haul with , if that makes a difference. |

Location: Panhandle of, Texas | Since EVERYONE in our family either rodeos or barrel races, we ended up with several rigs in order to go different directions on the weekend. Those include a '03 Dodge with an Elite 4 horse LQ w/ mid-tack. A 5 Horse Bloomer LQ that we pull with a Ford Super Cruiser And also just an Excursion that pulls an Elite 3 H bumper slant w/ a dressing room. Of all of them, would you believe that the Excursion pulls the best! And all are diesels...by the way, if you ever get a LQ, you'll wonder how you ever hauled without one! |

ONly problem with that is that it caught all the bugs and haul under neath it is protected |

Location: At The End of The Red Dirt Road | Here's my opinion of the campers - we got a Hallmark overhead that sticks out about as far as the tailgate would on a longbed pickup, and a 3h Trails West trailer - this was for our son to take to college rodeos and he drives a '94 Chevy 1 ton diesel dually. This combo is very comfortable, but that pickup can only hit about 60 downhill because the camper and trailer together are just too heavy. So, we tried the camper on my '97 1T Ford dually and it pulls better, but somehow that camper just doesn't fit the ford good and rubbed a hole thru my bed caps on the sides... anyway - the camper is now sitting in the yard! If you just use that vehicle for when you need the camper you might like it okay, but otherwise it is a pain. If I had it to do over again, I might try a smaller camper like the Capri models. Right now, I am driving the '97 powerstroke pulling the 3h Trails West bp which I have made a deal to trade in on a new CM 4h Drover SSL which is CM's new steel design. Ordered the trailer custom, so it is expected in about 3 weeks. And, last night I found a really nice used '98 2h WW bp with a walk in tack that looks brand new - I think I stole it at $1800, because I had an older WW 2h regular size, not fully enclosed that the paint job alone cost me $1200 on. I can use our suburban to pull it when I don't have far to go. And, our son now has the '94 diesel Chevy and is pulling a '95 Diamond D 3h slant that we fixed up with electricity and a rear tack so if he does have to stay in it is pretty nice. |

Our trailer is a 96 Titan Classic 4 horse slant with an insulated and carpeted dressing room with cabinets and counter. I need to put an inlet in so I can plug in a micro, coffee pot and a heater. It has a side tack that I absolutely love and could never do without again and a back tack. It is starting to rust because of the crappy paint job and the fact that I hual to Utah in the winter, They sure do use salt now. Location: southern Ohio | Question about generators????? My dad just gave me his Kawasaki 5000 electric start generator. So do you guys have them installed in the trailer (like under the saddle rack or under the mangers), or is it just easier to leave them in the truck bed? It seems so big and I really hate to give up that much space in the tack area. |

Location: Georgia | We have a 2001 F350 dually and a four horse Elite bumper pull. We hauled with a Capri camper many years. Our old Capri wouldn't fit our new Ford so we sold it and have been looking for a LQ ever since. I miss the Capri so much (and never would admit this to my husband) as he hated selling it and I was all for it. It is troublesome when you want to haul stuff in the back of your truck but we managed fine. Make sure if you get a used Capri that it will fit your truck. Our last was a 96 Ford and the 97 Capri fit it fine but it wouldn't fit the 2001. They've now changed the Capris to fit the new body style.

We needed a 4 door family vehicle in our price range and this is about all we could find...NICE truck though! All the bells and whistles. 5.4L V-8(biggest Ford engine) and I pull a 2 Horse steel bp. And I get really Chitty!!! Gas milage when I pull...(around 10mpg) but you cant even tell that trailer is back there. Im hoping to upgrade the trailer next year. Its just an old beater that I bought for $700 to get my horse to shows in. New truck will come in a couple years...will try to go for a deisel F250.

Location: Louisiana | When I got my current truck, Hubby insisted that I NEEDED a 4 wheel drive. (I think HE wanted the 4WD!) So I have a black 2002 Chevy 3/4 ton 4 X 4. BUT when I got it, the older Sundowner I had sat too far down on the bed and ATE my bed when I went over little hills like when you pull up to an arena. So I ended up having to get a new trailer that would sit up higher off my 4 X 4's truck bed. My new trailer is a Sundowner 3H with 4' short wall DR. We had the dressing room finished out by a local cabinet maker, and he did a great job but charged out the yazoo!!! We haven't gotten an AC yet, but that is the next step. The only thing I don't like about this trailer is that since we had to get 16" rims so it would be high enough to get the neck up off my truck, it made the trailer floor too high off the ground. It didn't come with a ramp, so the horses have to either jump into it or make some mighty big steps up. Otherwise, it's a good trailer, pulls good, and I've heard no complaints from the horses. And I LOVE my truck! OH, and here's a hint that everyone needs to hear. Since I didn't plan to haul 3 horses at one time except on rare occasions, my trailer dealer suggested that I get a stud divider (solid stall divider to the floor) for the first trailer stall. Since that stall has the escape door to the side and also one into the dressing room, I can use it to store all those things that normally clutter up the dressing room or truck bed....chairs, buckets, hay, etc. I REALLY like having this extra storage area! And if I need to use that stall to haul a 3rd horse, all I have to do is empty out the stuff, and it's ready. |

Location: At The End of The Red Dirt Road | The post from Grits made me think to add this - the 3h Trails West did not have a stud divider on the front slant, so my son cut a sheet of plywood to fit from the divider to the floor so that we can put the feed or haul panels up there and just take 2 horses. It was really cheap and easy to do and could be removed easily if needed. |

Location: On our hill top in Iowa | 2003 F-350 4 door dually 4X4(hubby wanted the duals and after this winter in Iowa hates them). Pull a 2003 4 horse Integrity Legeacy gooseneck with LQ. Hubby picks out the trucks and I pick out the trailers. Integrity is a newer company but Randy down at Integrity Trailers of Eastern Texas is outstanding to work with and beat every other company on the price. These trailers are built great!!! Can't say enough about them - just love my Integrity trailer!!!! |

Location: Somewhere Out of My Mind | For trucks we have a 1 ton Dodge extended cab and a 3/4 ton Dodge quad cab. Both are diesels. For trailers we have several, one is a two horse bumper pull extra tall extra long, 4 horse goose neck stock trailer, and a 2 horse goose neck stock trailer. For the most part we use the 2 horse trailer but now that both hubby and I will be competing we are going to sell some of the traielrs and get a 4 horse slant Sonner with LQ's. |

Location: Hartford, AR | We have a 2001 Dodge 1 ton diesel dually quad cab with an overhead Capri camper. I love it. The camper has a shower, sink, microwave, fridge, tv, AC w/heater and 2 beds. We pull a 3 horse S&H bumper pull, but are looking for a 4 horse. We have a hayrack on top for the generator, so you can run the AC while going down the road if need to. |

playindeuces - there is a Capri camper on a pickup down the road from me and I don't even think it sticks out over the sides of the pickup -- just fits in the back with the tailgate up. Sure looks like it would ride better than the Hallmark! By the way, the Hallmark is for sale - cheap! Otherwise, I think it makes me look like a true okie to have so much crap parked in the yard! I have a 86 long bed ford, I quess I need to measure the bed and the camper to make sure before I buy. I have another question on the camper. Do they bolt on to the truck, because I don't have a tail gate.? This may be a super dippy question I just have never looked into them . I had a friend tell me they were selling theirs and am thinking about buying it. I haven't asked to many questions on it because I gotta talk hubby into it. I wish I could talk him into a new truck, but he loves this one. I wish he was driving it when the engine blew , but he did have to tow me and the horse trailer home . |

| 2003 Chevy 2500 HD duramax (blacK) 4 wheel drive & plow hook ups 2003 2H ramp load (white and black highlights) which I hate..but in NJ that's all there is for a low price. I don't really like ramp loads, no offense to anyone, really don't mean to offend anyone, I would just personally rather have a step up and so would my horse..lol... My dream truck would be a dark blue F350 4 wheel drive, 4 door, dually with a diesel engine and a 6 foot bed pulling a 3H slant step up horse trialer with living area-bathroom/shower, etc and a tack room. Fans for the horses and AC/Heat up front!!! That would be the rig of my dreams!!! |

Location: Crowder, OK | I have a 1997 Dodge ex cab dually. My last truck was a 1997 dodge w/big smoke stacks, the coolest truck, wish I still had it. my husband built me a 2003 dodge, but I like the milage of the older 12 valve dodges verses the new ones, so I gave the new one back to hubby and got me another oldie. My trailer is my pride and joy, I absolutely love it! 2004 Four Star 3 horse slant w/11 ft & 8 ft wide Outlaw conversion LQ. I have enjoyed this trailer so much since I got it, my last one only had a 7 1/6 wide LQ and boy that extra wide is sooo nice! |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | I have a '94 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a Cummins diesel and it has over 300K on it--still works like a charm with minimal repairs and maintenance! My trailer is a 2003 Exiss SS500 with an unfinished dressing room and a few other really nice options on it. I want to sell it though, don't really need a 5 horse anymore. So if anyone is looking it is priced to sell and is a very nice trailer in like new condition, pulls awesome, the roof has never leaked and I have not had any trouble with it whatsoever. (It is listed on horsetrailerworld.com and my website www.schimkeranch.com with pictures if anyone's interested). |

Location: At The End of The Red Dirt Road | playindeuces - be careful what kind of tie-down rig you get for the camper. I believe hubby went to a camper sales place around Denver somewhere and had them show him what he needed by giving them the campers measurements. The one we have is a metal contraption that is bolted into the front of the pickup box and I think bolts down into the frame (not sure - I try to stay far away from men throwing tools around) Bet you could find some examples by doing some sort of search for camper sales places. |

Location: Omaha, NE | I've got a '99 F250 Powerstroke diesel. His name is Howard Huge. I always name my trucks and my last two have large cartoon dog names. Howard replaced Clifford (yeah he was red) Howard is a red super cab short box. I love the heck out of him. My trailer is a '98 Titan gn 3h slant with partially finished dressing room and rear tack. My trailer is awesome too, I forget it's back there. I would like an aluminum for my next one though. |

Location: in texas now! | Thank you Queen Mum and bevc for all the info. I know now I am going to have to do a little checking before I jump in and buy. I think if it all works out I will enjoy the camper. I love goosenecks , but I got in a bind when my truck broke down because none of my friends had a gn hitch, if I would of had a bumper pull my horses would not have had to stay at my cousins house 2 hours away for 3 weeks. Thanks again. |

Lucky you, at least you have roads!!! And now a convertable trailer too! I drive a '96 Dodge cummings, Hubby drives a hoochie red Chevy 1 ton dually gasaholic. We pull either the 2 horse BP with walk-in drssing room or steel 3 horse slant GN with walk-in tack (the Okie rig). I prefer hauling goosenecks, but the BP is nice for quickie trips. We're shopping for an aluminum trailer too. I know what I want, but he "thinks" he knows what we need, (probably like some cattle hauling rig...ya right, when you know what freezes over!!) |
