I just got off of the phone with a reputable dealer that my vet recommended that I call about renting a magnetic blanket for my horse to see if it made a diffference.  I just about died when he said that the cost was $350 a month to rent it (with 80% going to purchase price) or $6675 to purchase outright.  I just about died!!  Are there really products out there that are that much better than the others?!?!?!?!?!

After reading another post the other day, I found the PHT magnetic sheets (the mesh one, not the slinky) for $350 (plus shipping) at Hurley's Western Wear. The site referenced earlier has the same sheet priced at $385 (not sure about shipping). Has anyone else found them any cheaper...the real ones?

Sorry Arcowgirl, I must be confused.  Ok guys, I'm blonde so walk me through this:

It is a horse blanket with Magnants sewn on the sheet for $6,675.00?  I am I mistaken?  If so please correct me.  Thanks

NOPE, you are probably not the one confused, its Thursday, Spring Break is next week and my students and I are ready for it!!!  I heard people talking about Mag. Blanket and Mag Sheets, I am wondering IF they are meaning the same thing...I heard about them on this board and the more I read, the more I am wanting one, I checked w/ Hurley's on the sheets too, but I was wondering if there is such thing as a blanket ???!!!!  or is the same meaning!  When you find out, please let me know!

I will, I just can't imagine having a Mag. Blanket for $6,675 or getting for $350 a month.  That just floors me especially since I paid $300 and something.  I can't remember now, it's been a while, but I really like it.  Ummm???? I'll find out!!!

I have heard of magnetic blankets being probably that much in today's money.  The one I had heard about was 13 years ago and was called something like an "electromagnetic" blanket (sp?).  It was close to $4,000 13 years ago.  So yeah, probably now something like that would be around that or higher.

I am not really sure how it worked, but it was powered somehow and you left it on before/after competition for so many minutes/hours.

Maybe SG could shed some light?

Check into these: http://www.painxequine.com/pht_magnetics.htm

You can get the blanket for $385 or there is another one for $485. Or you can get a basic starter kit for $650 which includes 1 Magnetic Blanket, 1 Pair of Bell Boots, 1 Pair of Tendon Wraps, 1 Pair Hock Wraps. They have great products for a reasonable price!

The representative said that the magnets were an inch thick and that they were some kind of coil.  He said that there were pockets in the blanket (not sure what kind of blanket) and that you got sets of magnets and placed them where you needed them.  He said that you allowed the horse to wear it for only 45 minutes per day.  I know that the commpany is reputable and that he really does sell these blankets ~ I guess maybe there are other disciplines that use these more than we do in barrel racing!!!  (maybe we have more sense ~ or less $$$)  Anyhow, thanks for all of your comments and I am glad that I am not the only one who hadn't heard of such a thing!!! I think I will go with the PHT ~ it seems like a bargain now!!

Okay, you have said it twice and have been asked twice, Where do you get them and explain the magnets to us please. (bi-polar, unipolar) how and why do they work the same as some of the others. If you truley can get them for 100.00 and they work as well as PHT, then you might have a sell. I need to be convinced though!!!!

HEY I hate when my quotes don't work!!!

YEP I said no need to beg just hop right on it!!!
Just be sure and tell them you cheap blanket story.....

Just amazes me those that want to copy claiming to be the same when I have bought them tore them apart and looked and they are not anyway near the quality and guass strength.

I guess I am out to help the horses and provide a quality product..... not to just copy someones blanket to make a buck

I know I am being Snarky but after last night those Sponge Monkeys really got to me!!!
