Location: LouLouVille, OK | he he he he, let me start by saying, I have NEVER been to a Sharon C clinic, but have had serveral friends that did, and if you don't mind someone yelling at you till you cry , degrading your horse, go. But all of my friends said that if your horse wasn't NFR, then they were not worth a plug nickel, and if you weren't one with money, she was soooo mean, people actually left crying. JMO, but I don't need that, and no one deserves that. Use caution..... |

Location: Texas | Neither. She writes books, gives clinics and commentates the Barrel Racing at Houston and endorses some nice tack and Saddles made by Courts |

Location: Fayetteville,Ga. 30215 | I have been to a Camarillo clinic. I am not rich nor do I have a NFR type horse. I just wanted to better my horsemanship skills. I went to learn. I feel that Sharon is very dedicated in trying to make people understand how important it is to be a horseman first and a barrel racer second. I personally feel that I got a lot out of the clinic. |

Location: Texas | I think that Sharon is a wonderful horsewoman. My thoughts on that though are if I wanted to attend a horsemanship clinic then I need to enroll in such...a barrel clinic should stay more focused on helping a rider meet their goals in that forum...though I agree the two go hand in hand. Sharon has designed some excellent training equipment an has Courts making her products with the best of materials and workmanship. I also attended a clinic. It takes alot to make me cry...and I didn't....but I wanted to! |

Location: central TX | I went to one of her clinics for pure intent on qualifying to the Classic in Reno. I was going to take a novice horse, but he sold the week before, SO i ended up taking my open rodeo horse. First, she was very nice to me, I happend to have my then 5 month old corgi puppy Lucy with me. She stopped the clinic when we walked in, to play with my dog for about an hour. ,,,hmmmm...... When it was my turn, she was very nice and remembered me for my dog. So I guess she payed alot of attention to me, I got some 1 on 1. Where the real clinic came to play was her asssistant, Shirley Ankrum from ID. Now, SHE had the knowledge to help the little things (@ day 2) that I really wanted to learn to snappy up my turns and get focussed on real RUNS! She had the advanced tools for open horses. Sharon had alot of basic good skills everyone can use. I was pleased with it, and thought I got alot from it. I came into it with the mindset to just get thru it and qualify for her Classic. I learned and was happy. I didnt see her yell, or be mean. But my focus was on Shirley, as I knew first hand she was just that, a hand. She is worth the time/expense of the clinic. And if you know me, I am NOT a fan of clinics!! Another post, later! Julie |

| In my opinion she is very knowledgable (sp?). I loved her assistant(Shirley). I got a lot of help with saddle fit, I ended up buying her Elite saddle when I got home. I love her bits by Reinsman. I did not buy any or her products at the clinic and I did not feel pressured to.I did learn a lot. She is a bit strong. I probably wont go back to her again. She does have a lot of repeat customers. I definately dont regret going. Be ready to work hard. cantrnr |

Location: WA | Well, I just attended her clinic at the end of January. I had never been to a clinic before and so I asked on here what to expect. I got told take some Kleenex and be ready to get rode hard. Well, the riding was hard on the third day. The other two days I was tired, but only from learning so much and adjusting from the trip etc. She didn't make anyone cry at ours. She is very up front with you about what to change, why you are losing time, etc. I do not have an nfr horse and I know it. But she didn't talk down to me or breeze through me to get to the better horses or riders. She worked each horse hard at the lope on day three until your horse couldn't go anymore. I didn't buy anything at her clinic but have since made my own German Martingale and bought her sweet 6 bit and short lifter bit. I love it all. Her assistant at this one was Cheryl Price and she helped me just as much or more than Sharon, but that was ok. She was very knowledgeable as well. I feel that everything was related to barrel racing at the clinic. The horsemanship is very much needed and overlooked by many, at least in my opinion. I don't think there was anything that I didn't need to know to improve our runs. Good luck and have fun! |

Location: TX | I have been to one of her clinics and I like her thoughts and techniques on training barrel horses. I would say though, I have gotten more out of her video and books than I did at her clinic. Her horsemanship skills are very good. Shirley Akrum was also a part of the clinic and unfortunately I wasn't that impressed with her. There were 15 or 20 (I can't recall) and we were split between the two. In reality, I paid for a Sharon Camarillo clinic not for Shirley Akrum's advice. I know Sharon was having a rough weekend at the time of the clinic. She was faced with putting her good horse "Seven" to sleep that next morning. It was really sad, the arena where the clinic was held is right next door to where she lives in Lockeford, CA. Everyone got to see him in the pasture and with him was "Stick" Leo's great heel horse. Both of them were really old. They played a video at the end of the clinic with runs on Seven and everyone was "bawling." Especially since everyone knew what she would have to do in the morning. I felt really bad for her. Those are my thoughts.

Location: At The End of The Red Dirt Road | I have posted my opinion on this one before .... long, long time ago BUT took a 5 yr old mare that was winning in open jackpots in the central states, we made a first day run to let Sharon see where we were at. Had a decent run and just needed to snap it up a notch. After countless bit changes and horsemanship patterns taught in any local 4-H club practice, on day three we make our grand finale run... as I recall it was almost a 4D run off her 1st run. Took me several months to get her going again. I was HOT!!! Still am probably 15 years later!! |

| Do you know where to find Shriley's clinic schedule. I did like her and would think of going to one of hers. I think though I would probably audit any clinic before I took my horse now. cantrnr |

| I have never been to Sharon Clinics but Last year at the Ride the west expo, she held a one night "clinic". I thought she was tough. Everyone made a run and then we each came in one by one for some time with her and her assistant, then at the end we made one last run to see what we had learned. I do have to say that 2 girls did cry..she is to the point and doesn't mess around. I was nervous going in but I really paid attention to her and did what she asked. I got a lot of information for her and her assistant and improved my times. I belive 100 percent that I got my monies worth and more! Good Luck...I hope you enjoy it, if you still go |

Location: WA | Barrelracersue, I was at Ride the West last year!! Her weekend clinic is almost identical to her seminars throughout the weekend. I missed Friday night, so I can't vouch for that. I wanted to bring my horse really bad but didn't think it was worth it for just 3 hours. But I did make it to the Salkum clinic in Jan. Welcome to the boards! Everyone here is great! We have voted ourselves Best Barrel Board on the Web! |

| Lisantwist---That is so cool! I had a wonderful time at Ride The West. It was so amazing to just walk around and see all these poeple giving clinic and you just walk up and sit down. The clinic lasted for 6 hours even though it was only supposed to be 3. Sharon wanted to make sure everyone got a good share or her time. We didn't get done till midnight. I give her kudos since she had to be up and teaching a seminor at 8:00 Thanks for the welcome |

Location: somewhere between lost & found | I took my niece to one of her clinics about 2 years ago. My niece does not have a super horse by any means! She is a grade mare that didn't make it as a bucking horse, she looked terrible all over, but this is what she has to ride. Sharon never once was rude to her. They worked alot on horsemanship skills, which many of the girls needed. You could tell from that clinic, which girls had been riding and knew their horses and which ones mom and dad bought because they wanted to run barrels. There were a couple girls that didn't even know what leads were. There were a couple girls that weren't paying attention and she purposely called on them to answer a question, which is what I do when I'm teaching a class. Shirley was there helping her and was a wonderful person.I never saw Sharon once be "mean" to anybody. I still have tons of notes that I refer to off and on when I'm having a problem or when my niece is having a problem. Very helpful information and things we all need to work on at some point.I thought she was good. |

Location: WA | barrelracersue, wow! That is great that she took another 3 hours with everyone!!! Was Alicia Aldendorf riding that night? She was one of the two girls that was used in all the demonstrations, the one on the big sorrel gelding, not the Dash for Cash mare. She is so sweet!! She was one of the deciding factors in my going to the clinic in Jan. She told me, "IF you ahve the opportunity, do it! Sharon is a great lady!". Are you going this year? I was really excited about this year and then I saw the line up of clinicians. I really like Van Hargis, but have seen his the past two years. But some of his have always conflicted with other ones we really wanted to see. We probably will attend though. I wish we had a horse to have a clinician work, I think that would be interesting. |
