Location: Louisiana | The latest update on Chelsea's condition is not good. Let us rally in prayer for the swelling in her brain to subside. See this thread for more info on her accident: http://forums.barrelhorseworld.com/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=316263&start=1 Here is the latest update on Facebook:
Chelsea's Brain pressure level 37! Don't want it to go over 20! Stopped ALL VISITORS cuz it's causing her to be combatible & blood pressure going too high. Waiting 4 surgeon to come in w/a plan.

Yes, she was riding in a field or woods, not sure which. No one knows how or why she came off the horse, but the blow was to the back of her head. I'm guessing the horse's hoof hit her. She has been a barrel racer since she was a very little girl. I will try to post a pic of her. Your prayers are appreciated. |

| I was going to post this. Got a text about 2:30 but did not get to a computer until now. Chelsey is not doing very well. Really need some medical type person to translate in to plain old English. The brain pressure should not be greater than 20 but hers is at 37. She has become very combative and Dr. have stopped ALL visitors. Her blood pressure has gone up. Have not heard since a surgeon was called in. WE REALLY NEED EVERYONE'S CONTINUED PRAYERS FOR HER. |

| Readings of Brain Pressure (ICP - Inter Cranial Pressure) are as follows: 1-10 mmHG is Normal Function, 20 mmHG & above indicates abnormalities, 40 mmHG would measure neurological dysfunction, 60 mmHG would be fatal. When measurements run between 20 & 40 mmHG it would be expected to have a limited recovery. But, PEOPLE, God is bigger than all of this. So continue to pray to our Great Physician who is exceedingly and abundantly able to give MORE than we can hope, ask or dream of. Please Father.... |

| Miracle: an extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human powers and is ascribed to God. Yes, today is the day for God to glorify Himself in the midst of Chelsea's great need. "I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly." Father, we ask for a miracle for Chelsea and we will thank you for it. |

Location: Doyline, LA | There is one thing about Chelsea that I have always know, and that is she is not a quitter by any means. I remember the first time I saw her ride. There was this little girl blasting through the barrels. Of course, Sally as sweet as she can be. I felt like I was going to have a nervous break down watching her ride, but she actually made your hair stand. She will rise from this. Love you girlie |

| Bossier Parish Riding Club is doing a benefit ride October 1. This girl is so sweet and nice and sometimes in this sport that is hard to find! Her rodeo family is pulling together trying to come up with ways to help and cash donations and silent auction items are greatly appreciated. If every barrel racer would send FIVE dollars we could really help out this wonderful family in need. Come on everyone lets pull together and help a fellow barrel racer.....Checks can be made out to Bossier Parish Riding Club Chelsea Easley Benefit and sent to P.O. Box 203 Benton, LA 71006.
Below is the website of the news article the day Chelsea had her accident.

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | Update: Went to hospital thia afternoon Chelsea is moving around some when you pick up her arms she moves her head. I shared with Sally that everyone on BHW was praying for her and she was amazed that people they didnt even know were praying for her family. The doctor didnt have anything different to say this morning. Just wait and see. Sally is keeping the faith and standing in agreement that when she wakes up she is going to walk out othe hospital. Please keep the prayers and encouring words coming.

that she will walk out of there on her own 2 legs. Crawl right back on her horse and pick up where she left off. Lord guide the doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of Chelseas injuries and give her the strength to respond to the treatment.

Yesterday's update was that Chelsea is improving a little each day. Yesterday, she was moving her arms, legs, and head. She still wasn't awake yet, though. I have not heard an update today, but I will post it if or when I do. |

This is a hard time I know all to well, we went thru this last year with my dad he was in a horrible accident, he was out for like 30 to 45 days. We would move his fingers and hands and arms, any body part that was not broke. They say it helps because they get muscle attrify (sp). He had 8 surgeries and stayed in 3 different hospitals for 3 months and had to learn to walk all over again. I am just posting this so the family knows there is hope because we wondered all the time how he was going to be when or if he woke up and He was 65 when this happened to him, he is now living on his own (no wife) and feeding horses and riding tractors and he only has a limp. I really enjoyed it when I would get on the barrel sites and see all the prayers so keep them coming for this family. |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | UPDATE: Went to hospital Chelsea had bad day yesterday and they had to put the tube in her head to help with the swelling and drainage. Her numbers were way up so they had to relieve the pressure best I understand it. Sally said she looks tired from everything they had to do for her. Please keep this family in your prayers and keep the encouraging words coming. I printed out this thread and took it with me as well as the cards I have received today. I will reprint the others tomorrow before I go. It is an hour drive both ways for each parent and the worry, stress, etc is starting to weigh on them. Sally said this is the 10th day and she has not woke up. We know we serve an awesome God and are praying for a miracle. |

| As mentioned before there is going to be a benefit for Chelsey Oct 1 In Benton LA. The head of the Bossier Parish Riding Club asked other clubs to match their $200 donation to the added money. Minden Riding Club, Southside Riding Club, Doyline Riding Club and Vivian Riding Club matched the donation. How cool is that? Many individuals have donated to the added money also, so there should be a chunk of change that we are running for. We are trying to get together lots of silent auction items too. |

Having been in the hospital so many times with my husband let me tell you .... every day is not going to be a good day. So please don't get down if she has a bad day, it does not mean that she is not getting better. There are just going to be good days and bad days, and I know when you are so tired the bad days really wear on you. But keep your head up and have faith that God our Father is there watching over Chelsea. I pray for strength for you as parents to give your troubles and problems to God to handle. He can and will handle this situation. Have faith that God is control. Bless all of you. |

I am the one that posted further back about my dad being in the hospital and my sisters and I where an hour and a half away not to mention paying to park at the hospital in one month cost us $1200!!!!! No telling what gas cost us.
All that to say our barrel racing friends took up 50/50 drawings and things like that to help us pay for parking.
If you post a address I would like to send them some money.
Thank you Melody |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | UPDATE: They have completed putting in a trach(sp) and feeding tube and she is resting. Please keep prayers coming. Chelsea needs to wake up and walk out of the hospital. It is my understanding that the doctors are preparing the family to move her out of ICU and onto the floor to prep them for sending her home until there is a change.
We are praying for a miracle, God is the ultimate healer. |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | Ok, went to hospital didnt get to see Chelsea because the parents were getting their classes on how to take care of her and they were not allowing visitors. However spoke with Candy (sally roommate) and she said Chelsea was doing better today. She had eyes open, they were putting her in a special chair and learning to give her bath, etc. Still not sure if she has recognition of everything or just in spurts. It is my understanding that tomorrow they will move her to a room and someone has to be with her 24/7. Members of my church are going to try and give them some relief so they can take care of their needs. Also, some encouraging words, cards etc would be appreciated as the road to recovery is going to be long. As I am writing this I cant help but think of the note I gave Sally last week telling her that when we are at the lowest point of defeat we have never been so close to our greatest victory. I cannot tell you how happy I was to share this news with my church family and my BHW family today and seeing the power of prayer firsthand is a great feeling. Eventhough you know God answers prayer it is refreshing and a recharge for my faith to experience it this close. Will take the computer to hospital tomorrow and let Sally read everything. |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | ok, let me clarify. She is not going home, it is my understanding that the hospital is teaching them this so she can move to the floor and the family will be responsible for taking care of her due to over population of hospital. They are hopeful that as soon as she can follow commands she will go to rehab facility. Please pray for Sally and Scott (Chelsea dad) as they are divorced and this is causing a strain on them both. Dont want to go into lots of detail on a public board but they need the prayers. |

Location: Where when the rain stops the snow comes | many many prayers!!!! /hopefully this remarkable young woman will be back in the saddle in no time, and i pray that her family can stay strong and all help eachother throught this. I can not imagine how hard this has to be on all her friends and family who are so used to seeing her be so bright, and active. The Lord will continue to heal her, and i hope in the process this will heal that whole family aswell.
Is there any news on what her long term affects are going to be so far? Can she remember anything from the wreck?
Does anyone have any more pictures of this wonderful girl?? we would all love to see some more pictures of how bright and cheerful her life was, and will soon be again. |

Location: BOSSIER CITY, LA | UPDATE: Talked with Sally today, havent made it to hospital yet. She said Chelsea smiled at her when they were talking to her about her 18th birthday which is Saturday. Sally gave her a bath, fixed her hair and painted her fingernails last night while she was on duty. She had a long talk with the night nurse and learned that the medicine she was still being given for anxiety would make her be in and out for awhile. So keep the prayers and good thoughts coming. |

| One of my coworker's son suffered a brain injury during a football game in 1995. Many months later the neurosurgeon who operated on the young man told the parents that at the time he did the surgery he considered the youth brain dead, but operated due to his young age and the parents' concern and love. He called him his miracle patient. This young man is a functioning adult today. He is not the same as he was before his devastating injury but he is alive, holds a job and is a joy to his family. Miracles happen every day. They may not ocurr when or as soon as we want them to, but they do happen. Many, many prayers for Chelsea and her loved ones. |

Location: MIssissippi | I am so happy to hear these positive updates!!!!
But at the same time it makes my heart hurt to hear about this lovely 18yo girl struggling to simply give a thumbs up and a kiss. Right when she should be at one of the most active times of her life she is in a hospital fighting for her life. And still is in a very real way. She is fighting to regain as much normalcy as possible.
I don't know quite how to say what I'm thinking.... I rejoice w/the family to know that Chelsea is slowly, but surely, recovering. At the same time my heart is devastated to know this vibrant young girl will never quite be the same again. All of us have life experiences that change us forever, I'm so sorry that Chelsea's had to be this violent and permanently life-changing.
God works in His own way and in His own time. He has a plan for Chelsea and there will be good to come of this horrible accident. We can't see it right now, but we can trust that it's so.
We can trust Him.
Chelsea... Happy late birthday to you, and I am proud to hear you're doing so well. I pray you continue to recover and I know your family will be there for you... a strong encouraging presence in your life.

| I have to agree with fourh mom....this has been a life changing event for Chelsea...reading your reality of it all made me write this...Chelsea's situation has been hard for me because I have been down that path. March of 1992 (I think) not real good with dates. I call it my life changing moment. FOr the longest time I was angry with God that he made me survive....now I am sooooo grateful! I count my blessings every day. My life is totally different but so totally better. The only thing I have from that life is my horses they brought me back and I am totally devoted to them. My friends even changed so I am hoping to be one of CHelsea's newest fans....when she get back to her life I want to still be on this site cheering her on...if I could do it I know she can! SO lets keep the prayers going and the words of encouragement and to Sally...mom's are so special and in a situation like this they make all the difference in the world...hugs to you!!! SOnja is a great friend not just to Chelsea but to all of us for keeping us posted because....we all care!!! Come on Chel show us what you got!!!! |

So, Chelsea has been "puckering up" to kiss, and smiling, wiggling fingers/hands and toes/feet? I am so glad! Have the doctors said much about her long term prognosis? I know that a head injury takes alot of time, but is she is being responsive, and recognizing, and smiling, I am so hopeful! I check this post daily, multiple times for positive updates! This girl is in my heart! |

Location: Louisiana | Sonja, that is a very promising update. Thank you! How funny that she is "clucking". I wonder if that means, "hurry up!" I am going to visit with Chelsea and Sally today and will give Sally the money we have raised here at BHW. I'm going to stop by WalMart and get a couple of Visa gift cards that she can use for gas and will give her the rest in cash. I'm looking forward to seeing them! Will update this evening. |

Location: Louisiana | I posted this on the other thread but thought I should put it here, too. I just got home from visiting with Chelsea and her mom and delivering our BHW donations. WE, meaning we here at BHW, collected over $600 for them! I gave Sally $400 cash and a reloadable money card with $200 on it. As more donations come in (some are sending checks), I will load the money onto the money card, which she can use as a debit card. Sally was so surprised that people she didn't even know had been so good to her and Chelsea. She asked if this was from local people, and I told her a few local people, but the rest from all over the US plus Canada. She was shocked. Each of you who donated money or items deserve a great big (((HUG)))!
Sonja (WANNACOWBOY) and I arranged to meet up at the hospital to visit with Chelsea and Sally and give them the money. Most of the time we were in the hospital room, Chelsea was awake and looking around. She seemed to be looking at me like "Who is that?" She hasn't seen me in several years, so she probably wouldn't recognize me. I'm not sure how much she understood, but at least she was awake and looking around. She was tired after having a lot of company today. She is definitely making improvements, and we hope that she will be able to return to "normal" with the help of the rehab in New Orleans. The money we gave her will help Sally stay there with Chelsea. Also, Sonja's church donated money for Sally's room. Sally is very appreciative and said to thank all of you! So THANK YOU from Sally, Chelsea, Sonja, and me!

I'm praying that they have a safe trip down and all goes well at the New Orleans facility. I know the trip will be hard on Chelsea. Hoping she bounces back after a rest at her new home away from home. And hoping that Sally has an easy trip down and no problems. |

Wow! They are moving fast!
that is how rehab works the faster they start the better the chance of full recovery....she is going to be tired, sore and most likely feeling like she has been beat up so lets make sure we send all the positive energy and prayers we have...she and Sally will need them....this isn't going to be easy for Sally either. She can do it - I am sure!!! GIVE THEM A GOOD FIGHT CHELSEA!!!! STAY STRONG AND SHOW THEM WHAT YOUR CAPABLE OF!!!! The more you give the more you get back!!! Inside saying!! |

Sally doesn't have internet access there, but Sonja prints out this thread and will send it to her by mail. I haven't heard how the standing went, but I'm sure Sonja (WANNACOWBOY) will update when she has a chance. She stays in touch with Sally by phone. I know the therapists down there have been very aggressive with her therapy. From the looks of these pics, it must be working! PS - Welcome to Barrel Horse World!!
