My husband is deployed to Afghanistan and will be gone through Christmas so me and his mom felt like it would be a good idea to send stockings to everyone in his platoon. He says there are some people over there that has never recieved gifts the whole time there. We have sent 2 people care packages that havent recieved anything during this deployment and I know they were thrilled. So what I was thinking is maybe there would be a few BBs on here((or know someone who would like to)) that might want to get in on the spirit of giving and help us send some stockings or something for the marines. There are 41 people per platoon..wether you wanted to help with a stocking or send a christmas card or maybe even send a care package They would be so thrilled to recieve anything I know!! I would give you the address so nothing would go through me... so what you send YOU KNOW is going directly to THEM!! I know im about to be broke but nothing makes me feel better than helping those who are defending me. I have never gave a more meaningful gift. Just think that you might be sending the one and only gift a marine might recieve his whole deployment. This is a very rewarding thing it makes me feel very wonderful about myself. If there are some of you wanting to participate I'll post the address on here just let me know!! You can also follow them on facebook CLR-15 FWD...Its just sad that we send my husband a box a week and some of these men go 7 or more months without ever recieving a thing...Can you imagine being over there and feeling like no one cares?? I try to help make a difference..So can you ..our goal is to atleast make sure all 41 recieve a stocking but anything extra is GREATLY appreciated!! Anything needs to be shipped and postmarked BY Dec. 7th, 2010 in order for them to recieve them by Christmas.
examples of things we used in stockings...(travel size is nice because they are always on the move) Baby wipes Hand sanitizer Razors, shaving cream, etc Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash etc. Foot powder Socks(they love socks sometimes go week at a time without showers in boots on missions) Deodorant, body spray, etc anything to do with hygine... Power bars Jerkys((LOVE THIS)) Magazines Snacks Eye drops(lots of dust over there lol) Hand warmers
Anything you want to send... thats just what we have sent and what is going in stockings we have done..
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this I hope you all decide to help a little :)

**Flat rate shipping through USPS Large priority box is 12.50**
**Trying to send all them around the same few days so they recieve them at one time like maybe we can set a date to send our gifts like a time frame between mon-tues or mon-wed(does not pertain to anything) or something like that.**
**It is very cold over there right now by the way so anything to help with that is a good idea also**
((NAME HERE)) CLR-15 FWD GSMT CO Unit 42147 FPO AP 96427-2147 they will be given out as they are recieved im guessing...like to the ones who has not recieved anything yet they will get theres first then so on...

Location: Arkansas | My husband asked for a hammock so he can hook between trucks.. he has been sleeping on the ground under the truck since he got there ..He will be getting it before Christmas because the thought of that just breaks my heart. I got one from Academy its made from parachute material and it looks very comfortable..20.00...Remember that GSMT stands for general support motor transportation so they are always going and that means no beds, no real food, no showers, and no contact..anything they can use to help with these problems are great!! Phone cards are amazing because its expensive to talk...Believe me lol...my family is buying my husband some minutes on his card lol..Perfect gift from them to us |

Location: Arkansas | Yes righ now it's just like a secret Santa haha but the thing about waiting is I get a new name everytime he calls because he meets alot of new marines and by dec 9 I can probably have names.. So maybe you could make up a box and as I get names I can post them and if I don't then you can just send them and my husband will pass them out either way is fine! Just your preference I suppose lol I send all mine to my husband and he gives them to them that way they know he is also part of me giving back to them! That's my idea not his lol.. zelma - 2010-11-27 4:48 PM StephanieNE - 2010-11-27 5:37 PM I would like to send something! But I'm slightly confused.... My husband will make sure of that we always send a whole box full and he gives 90% to people he says needs it more than him! He has a big heart and is always helping others so he will make sure your boxes go to people who need them!! zelma - 2010-11-27 5:08 PM

Yes!! Or if some of you want to make sure they go to people who really need them send them to my husband LCpl Joseph Gaddy then proceed with the following address..He will make sure they get them!! Just make sure you include a sheet of paper with a memo saying its for someone who needs it!! Here is the way we are going to address our package to our Mystery Marine... (see the little inset on the address)... this way LCpl Gaddy will know what to do without having to open the box!!
We will include a Christmas card inside to our Marine with all of our signatures!!

Location: where the weather is bi-polar | We are having a Barrel race 12/4-5 in Sweetwater our Association wanted to do something to help needy people this year, thought about a food drive but after reading your thread. I think this is such more needed. God Bless these people that serve, sacrifice, and give so freely and get nothing in return, some not even a thank you. However it may be your husbands platoon may be covered on this, I will keep your information and contact our recruiting office and see if they know of any that need this, that perhaps they have no one in their platoon that has thought to do this for those who get nothing while over there. Please PM me if you need more or your husband knows of other platoons that could use care packages. |

| I went shopping today. I got alot of stuff. Was thinking maybe I could send a package to an individual, and send a group package for people to share goodys & take what they need/like. I dont know if I got all the right things, but some of the stuff I got is useful some is just because. |

What are the best kinds of socks to get? I will try to get some stuff put together by then, but I live a ways from a Walmart. I can put all kinds of snack stuff together from our gorvery store though...with wipes and deo, toothbrush etc. I pm'd you, but I prefer to get someone that doesn't normally get things. Makes my heart smile to know I can make a difference.
I got the cotton thermal socks in the hunting/sportingg section @ walmart. I think I am going to get some regular tube socks to send as well. |

I'm wondering if we need to add another unit since your receiving such a good response?
My package is almost ready except for the food items that I'm adding to make it as full as possible. |

I talke to him a few days ago and I told him about it and he said that this is great!! He said they will all be so excited!! As far as I know they do not have a limit where he is we have sent many boxes at once before so I don't think so.. He was also going to tell his SSGt about it in case the boxes came while he was on a mission! |

Yes you can send it however you like :) as long as they will ship there.. I know my aunt tried to ship something through ups the other day and they said they dont ship there!! Idk how all that works I always use USPS because its close and we use the 12.50 large flat rate box!
**Large flat rate priority is the only box they do for 12.50** They do not discount any of the smaller boxes

| My barn girls went shopping for our 2 marines today... and of course they spent all the money I sent with them plus some of their own... funny how I never get any change back..
Both boxes are identical on goodies... They went peanut crazy... bought 2 lb jar of each... planters peanuts and cashews... and pkgs of hanes socks.. 10 prs to a bundle.. and a bunch of other candies and stuff..
I could sure eat some cashews and one of those huge hershey bars and play with a hot wheels Christmas corvette I saw in the boxes..

I will get these two boxes mailed Monday since post offices are closed on Saturday around here...
We have really enjoyed doing this... been a lot of fun..
HOPE OUR MARINES KNOW HOW MUCH WE VALUE THEM!!! EVEN THO I AM EX-NAVY....

Memories....>>> I can remember doing Navy basic training in San Diego.. Marines and Navy are separated by a chain link fence....
Marines would come by double timing wringing wet with sweat while we would be sitting under some shade trees and they would sing dirty songs to us as they hustled by and out of sight......
Bless their little pea picking hearts.. it was all in fun and we looked forward to listening to their next dirty song about the Navy...

I helped my friend repackage her 2 HUGE boxes into 4 APO flat rate boxes. She was really wanting to help these guys out and about crapped when she got the total. I told her I would help her repackage and it saved her about $20. So be on the lookout for 5 boxes from Miller of Lance Creek and I sent one myself
Also, I sorta generalize what I put on the customs. If it is yummy's I put "candy" etc. Mine all get there fine. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I didn't take your post wrong, just sayin there are nice Postal people It is shameful how some people treat the families of our troops and even the soldiers themselves. I saw a very sad movie with Kevin Bacon called Taking Chance. The movie really showed the respect our soldiers deserve.
Anyways, my hats off to you and your family! |

I went to mail my box of goodies and I had to come back home with custom forms!! I didn't know that!! I bought over 20 items!! I didn't know I would have to list them all!! Top it off the woman at the post office was a real B*&%#!! I will get it done, it just won't get mailed out today!! Sorry!! You do NOT have to list every item! they may say you do but we do NOT!! We only list 4 items because there are 4 lines..We have NEVER had a problem doing this they recieve every box weve sent so far! Oh and yeah the post office people can be real B****Y!! Hate dealing with them! Hey, I'm a Postmaster and I try to be very helpful...of course it is in a tiny tiny town and I know everyone.
We could have sent candy? Darn it, I didn't put anything ediable because I thought it wasn't allowed. I feel kind of bad now. Everyone deserves something sweet on Christmas.

I mostly sent snacks because I never got to a Walmart so just went crazy at the grocery store. I think they appreciate anything! |
