Location: Grandfield, OK | My step daughter Chancey - 21 years old had an accident yesterday morning. She has broken a leg, an arm and her neck. She had surgery to repair all of this and has had c2-5 fused and the doctors have given her no chance to ever walk again and are doing all they can to try to help her have use of her upper extremeties. At this time she has a little movement in her upper arms and shoulders and is breathing somewhat on her own. I need all of the prayer warriors out there to please pray for healing. Sis is God's child and He only will decide if she doesn't walk - The doctors have done an excellent job and say the surgeries went extremely well, now the rest is up to us and God. There is strength in prayers so please join our family in this endeavor.
Put her on your church prayer lists as well please. Thanks and see ya down the road. If you would like updates, I am updating my facebook pages regularly. Thanks, Felicia Miller. |

She also had C2 through C5 fused and after several months of recovery is now amazingly well (except for remaining shoulder pain and some numbness). So there is hope. I will keep your daughter in my prayers. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Thanks everybody for the prayers, offers of help and inspiring words. Chancey had a tough day today - the breathing tube is hurting her pretty badly. The dr's chose to sedate her pretty heavily to aleviate the anxiety from the tube but really wanted to keep her alert to increase blood pressure as this will increase healing at the most critical time. Tough decision to sedate her so heavily on their part. The lungs are now the big issue, trying to prevent pneumonia. There will be a VERY long road ahead of her in the healing process and we appreciate the prayers and pray you all stand steadfast in the prayers of healing. May God bless each and every one of you. |

| Josh Wasson broke his neck (July 2010) and the prognosis was not good, that he would be a quadriplegic. Within a month he was walking again and now he has use of everthing except his left arm. Do not underestimate the healing power of kids. Prayer is of the utmost importance but that drive from within is very important. Do not lose faith. Josh was transported to Houston for rehab, possibly where Gabriel Giffords is. This is the best rehab in the US. Hopefully, you can get in there. |

We are still praying here in Louisiana for a full recovery!
She's in great hands with the Lord! I had the opportunity to live with the Millers for a while & logged many hours riding with them & even more with Chancey when Felicia and Marty where rodeoing. Chancey is one of the most beautiful and determined young ladys that Ive ever known & if I know her well like I did when I lived there she will walk agin!

Location: Grandfield, OK | Another set-back today - Chancey has a blood clot in one of her legs - yesterday it was pneumonia - today blood clot - tomorrow will be healing! She has been put on a bed that rotates her body 60 degrees each way continually to help combat the pneumonia. In order to do this she is totally sedated. The ventilation tube has been a constant aggravation to her throat and she wants to talk so bad that she stays aggitated because of it. It must remain with her to help with the deep breathing to fight the pneumonia - She is strapped to the bed and the movement helps the lungs. I will get to be with her tomorrow but will only get to stay 2 nights as I have to be back at San Angelo for the Thurs perf unless I can get a trade to later on in the rodeo. I will try to update you all when I can get to a computer. Thank you for the continued prayers and support. I read all of the posts to Sis when I sit with her - she feels the love and support from fellow barrel racers.

Location: Sorrow Not! Defending against workplace bullies | It's the relatively small things, isn't it (like the tube) that get you in the hospital. For my mom who I wrote about earlier (she had a C2-25 fusion too) it was the IV in her hand! It drove her crazy!! I know the tube is painful to her, but if she is focusing on that, I see it as a positive sign! That is great that she is wanting to talk. More prayers heading her way!

Location: Tom, Oklahoma | Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! this is the first time I have seen this thread, but yaya had told me some of it. I have not had a computer but just know that I am praying for this sweet girls' full recovery. We serve a God of miracles, and I know that HE is able! My son Ryon's neck break is at C6/C7. The PT came in yesterday and was amazed at how much motion his has with his arms/wrists at the level of injury. I told her that Ryon had had so many prayers, that God was performing miracles for us. :) So now we are praying for His miracles to bless Chancey! Thank you Lord for your blessings, all the blessings you have showered Chancey with, and all the ones that you are yet to bless her with! In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Amen |

Location: NM | I am just now seeing this post... I am sending prayers for healing, and recovery... One of my good friends son wrecked back in Oct. He too broke his back and neck and had to have a rod put in his back, as well as lose his right arm, and the Dr.s told the parents that he would never walk again...... But I truely believe that with all the prayers and Gods work, Jacob is walking today and was home from the hospital and rehab before Christmas, He is back in school and is talking about his future and what he wants to do. This kid loved and breath sports... So yes I believe in miracles and I believe that God has it all under control and in his time, he will take care of Chancey as well.... Hang in there, I know it seems like everyday is another obstacle, but remember that God will only give us what he knows we can handle.... Prayers to you and your family.... |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Update: Chancey has been on a "roto rest" bed to help clear the lungs up - it rotates her body 62 degrees each direction. She has been totally sedated throughout this. She was taken off of the bed today and put on an air bed to help with skin breakdown. At this point there is no other changes. The pneumonia is under control and the blood clot in her leg is being treated. Plans are to have a trach tube and feeding tube surgically put in place so that she can be allowed to wake up and communicate. Thank you everybody for the prayers, well wishes, cards and everything else that is being done for her. She is a special young lady that now has a very LONG and HARD journey in front of her. Please stand steadfast in your prayers.
The other day before the pneumonia, Chancey had her eyes pulled hard and tight shut and was really thinking you could tell. We asked her if she was ok and she nodded yes and that she was praying really hard. If God is for us, who can be against us? Please continue to pray. |

Location: Here | cowboytravel - 2011-02-11 7:45 AM My step daughter Chancey - 21 years old had an accident yesterday morning.

The ventilator tube was so uncomfortable that she was stressing because she wanted to communicate and we couldn't even see her lips. She can now swallow a little and they are letting her be more alert and awake. We can communicate somewhat - she says she is NOT scared, worried or frustrated. WOW - her inner strength and faith is awesome. She does know her circumstances and hopefully we will have her in Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO in a few weeks. Problem for now is getting her stable enough to make the journey and the financial aspect of her flying out there. She will have to be medi flighted out there and they say the cost is huge and her insurance may not pay for it. Not sure what is next but we will figure it out. Keep praying and thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers. |

Location: Tom, Oklahoma | My heart just hurts for you all. One thing I have learned about this whole ordeal, is to take 1 day at a time. No need to stress. It will all take care of itself. Just put it in the Lord's hands, He will make everything come together. At one point, we thought Ryon was going to have to go to a nursing home.........now he is going to a rehab in Texarkana! The Lord took care of it for us. :) Continued prayers for Chancey!! |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey did good in surgery - had a trach tube inserted so the aggravating tube in her throat is gone. Lungs look great and are well on the mend. We now have concerns that she may not be able to be taken off of the ventilator but we are a faithful family and believe that God will take care of this for us. She is alert and now remembers things. We asked her if she was scared, angry or frustrated and she says NO. WOW - how strong is she? We did get her admited to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Co and there is talk of her going out there at the end of next week if she remains stable enough. This is supposed to be the best rehab hospital in the world. She now knows about the paralysis and is still strong. Asked for a cheesburger today. Thank you for all of the prayers and please continue to use your faith in God to ask for favor for Chancey. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey is awake most of the time now and has the best attitude. She is a strong beautiful young lady that has TONS of faith. Her night last night was her first awake and it was kinda stressful - the pain killers caused hallucinations. She was awake all night lying in fear - she slept most of the day in between visitors and was quite apprenhensive going into tonight. We were there most of the day but left because there were so many people there and we would have to be back on Mon. She panicked because she didn't get to pray with her Daddy before we left, so prayed enroute on the speaker phone. We believe she will sleep good tonight. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers - please keep them coming.
Our Dr. is a cousin to Tammy Key Fisher and Jackie Dube - Dr. Roberts - and she is WONDERFUL - she was the key person to help get Chancey into Craig Hospital - they are flying in to have a meeting with us on Tuesday. Chancey met all of the criteria to get in and the insurance is going to pay for the medical transport 100%. Now the biggest concern is to get her to be able to get off of the ventilator. Talk is of taking her to Craig Hospital - Englewood, CO at the end of next week if she is stable enough.
This morning she had 104 degree fever but packed her in ice and got it down. Still not sure what is causing it. Fever came down during the day but is back up now. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers - keep em' coming. |

Felicia, Ryon's fever got really high also, and it was his cath. He had gotten a bladder/kidney infection. When they re-cathed him, it all went away. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Sure don't mind. Right now I am waiting till midnight to call the hospital , really bad day today - fever this morning again - had her packed with ice to get it down - she was very nauseated this morning when we got here and not feeling well. Has had a headache all day and this afternoon she was given 2 units of blood. We don't know where the blood loss is from - then I asked what happened to her cheek and nobody could answer - she looked like she has a HUGE chew of tobacco and her eye on that side only was swollen. They took her for a cat scan of head, neck and mid section. The results of the cat scan were supposed to be available at midnight. Pretty scary stuff.
On an upbeat note - we met with the Craig Hospital admittance and RN's this afternoon and she has been accepted to their rehab program. Plans were to care flight her to Colorado Thursday morning. Hope we can get her stable enough to go begin her next journey. She is ready to do something. Weaning of the ventilator had started this morning but has been put on hold for the moment.
Thanks for all of the prayers and keep em' coming. We know that there are valleys enroute to the top of the mountains.

They keep doing so much to her she has not gotten much sleep. Her spirits remain positive. She has such a kind and caring heart. It hurts so much to see her like this. Please keep praying. Now they say it could be up to 2 weeks before she gets to go to rehab. She is just ready to get on with life. A little bit ago Marty was helping her cough "the quad cough" and she went flat line - the nurses got her heart going back. They were there letting Marty learn to do it for her. Needless to say we are all pretty shook up now. We need prayers now more than ever . |

Location: Sorrow Not! Defending against workplace bullies | I am so very sorry for Chancey, you, and your family. I posted a while back about my mom's similar accident and hospitalization. Your current situation is another thing that is similar!! With my mother, they kept postponing and rescheduling her surgery too. It was very frustrating to say the least. Since a person can't eat or drink for a certain number of hours before surgery it places a lot of stress on the body -- added on top of the mental stress of waiting...and waiting....and waiting... and having to be ready at a moment's notice for things to change.
Still, with all that it is amazing how the human body can heal. Sincere for Chancey. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey update: She got to chew gum today - eat liquid foods and ice cream. She was off of the vent quite a bit today and is getting stronger every day. Her spirits are amazingly strong and she is ready to start her rehabilitation. It is so incredible the strength she is showing - the physical therapist says she does twice the exercises expected of her. We all believe this is due to the prayers for strength and healing. Thanks to all of my barrel buddies for taking the time to pray for her and our family. There are several barrel racing benefits planned for her - April 2 - Wichita Falls - The Steve Rater Memorial will benefit Sis and another young cancer patient and there is one scheduled April 23 in Elk City, OK. Our family would love to meet each and every one of our barrel racers in Christ there. Thanks again |

| Continued Prayers for Chancey,
Father we come to you again today in prayer for Chancey and her family and friends and her Doctors. Today we come to you on humbled knees to give you praise for putting your healing hands on Chancey. Lord we know that all is possible with you in our lives, and that all you ask is that we invite you in. We ask for a mirical recovery for this young Lady. We thank you Lord for all you have done. In Jesus name we pray these things, Amen. |

Chancey update: She got to chew gum today - eat liquid foods and ice cream.
Thanks again
Glad to hear the great news... Will keep everyone in my prayers! |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey had a rough day - has pneumonia AGAIN - They put her back on the ventilator - told us this was not a bad thing or set back but with the fluid in her lungs and inactivity, she needed help getting more air into the lower part of her lungs. i.e. deeper breaths. They expect her to be on it for a few days only. She was off of it for 4 days breathing on her own so we know that will not be a problem. She is bored stiff - and ready to get busy doing something. She misses all of the wonderful nurses and staff at OU Medical Center and hasn't adjusted fully to the new changed environment.
Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes and please continue to lift Sis up in your prayers.

Silver told her last night she had been riding her horse and Chancey quickly told her not to get too attached that she was not giving him up yet. She has a really nice 1D barrel horse and we expect to see her back on him. Satan does not know our God. Keep prayers coming - we are winning this battle - and thanks for the previous prayers. |

| I just saw this post. I hope Chancey is doing well and healing. Please tell her to keep her faith strong. Having just gone through breast cancer, treatment and surgery, I know the importance of faith. Prayer will keep her lifted and she'll do well because of it. "Let us run with perserverance the race before us", Hebrews 12:1
May God bless you all. Hang tuff Chancey!!!!

Chancey had a bad day yesterday - 4 hours of MRI's - she hated it. Did not get to put on real clothes - did not get any therapy and hated the tube. On a good note - I got to talk to her about 30 minutes - she rambled on and on - sounded like herself. lol Her Dad was going down to stay with her for a while and give her mom a break but she has had concerns of her Dad being able to do her hair and make up and help her dress. (valid concerns.) Also jokingly she says "He can't even make himself a sandwich. How is he gonna help me." I told her he could she has just never seen it - he is spoiled or as he calls it "WELL LOVED." Anyhow - looks like I'm loading up to go stay with Sis - I feed on her strength and spirit. Thanks for all the prayers and keep em' coming. She has already had way more improvement than they gave us hope for. Prayers at work! |

Location: Grandfield, OK | I am in Colorado with Chancey now - Her spirits remain unfailing - what an inspiration she is to me. Wish I had the same attitude and happy cheery personality. She never ceases to amaze me. She has caught "a bug" here - a bacterial infection and is not able to get out of bed and she is not too happy about that but makes light of it and tells people to come on in but she has a disease but it is ok cuz it isn't fatal. She is good at making jokes. She said a bit ago that her feet were cold and low and behold they were not covered up as the rest of her body was. Prayers at work - keep em' coming.
I did bring some horses out here with me so I can continue to make a living and ride my outside horses. Thanks so much to Bob and Vivian Marshall for providing me with a place to stay with my trailer and put up with me and 3 horses as well as Jellybean my aussie.
If anybody can think of a barrel race to go to in the Boulder, CO area - please let me know - Sis said it'd be OK if I went.
Thanks everybody for the prayers, cards, gift baskets and well wishes. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey had another bad day in the beginning yesterday - she has contracted "C Diff" seems as antibiotics somewhat sterilize the gut and bad bacteria takes over - she is on medication for it but it too sometimes makes her sick. She ate some yogurt and it did make her feel a bit better. She is weak from lack of nutrition and they have put her back on IV fluids. Pray for strength and healing. Spirits remain good and sense of humor is AWESOME - I believe after all of her trials her new endeavor would be a comedy show. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Yesterday was somewhat of a frustrating day for Chancey - she had her occupational therapy class to learn to feed herself - Let's just say we hope yogurt is good for the skin. She finally got some of it figured out but it was frustrating for her - She made the statement that 6 weeks ago she would have laughed if you would have asked her to do it because it was SO simple. However - the bright side - she bared down - dug deep and got serious and never quit trying. Her persistant relentless nature will win this battle I am sure. She never used the "C" word (can't) - she stated - "I am having difficulty". I read on the wall here in the hospital this morning ----- "The only disability in life is a bad attitude." by Scott Hamilton. He must have known Chancey. |

Location: Here | cowboytravel - 2011-03-26 12:00 PM I snuck Jellybean into the room to see Chancey - she was SOOOOO excited - so was Jelly - the nurse let him stay in bed with her for 5 minutes. Now she wants to get up in her chair and go outside and see him more. She said that made her feel her better than anything yet. Now my sisters are wondering how I am gonna get her horse in the elevator!! Spoken like a true cowgirl "Can you bring up a saddle pad so I can smell a horse?" I can surely understand and I am sure all of you can too.
that is one of the most precious things I have ever read |

Location: Grandfield, OK | I am back up here with Chancey after her mom left. She was here for 3 days and I got a much needed break but am glad to be back up here. Right now she isn't feeling too good and blood pressure is really low. She had a horrible appetite and this may be inhibiting the bed sore she has. Thank you for the prayers and keep em' coming.

Chancey continues to be in our prayers.
that blood pressure has given Ryon heck thru all of this. Guess it just goes with a SCI. :( Ryon thinks that if he wakes up early, and lays in bed a while to sorta wake up.........then get out of bed, his bp does better all day. But who knows what really helps it with a SCI patient. They have Ryon on a steriod for it.......not sure that is doing any good, because he had trouble 2x this last week. |

Have they got her blood pressure regulated? Please know that all of you remain in our daily thoughts and prayers. |

Location: Grandfield, OK | Blood pressure has been regulated - seems like inactivity is her enemy. You know the chicken, egg theory. Today is my last day up here with her - it is somewhat bittersweet. I miss my family at home and a little girl at home is missing me really bad. Chancey's mom is on her way back up here tomorrow, so I will pull out in the morning and make a barrel race at Castle Rock, CO on the way home and hopefully be home by Sunday evening. I hope all of my young horses at home feel like they have missed me too. Prayers please for safe passages for Lynette and I. |

That really made me smile. You never realize how things you take for granite everyday can be missed when you can't do them. Prayers for a swift and complete recovery.

| Prayers from Canada.
I just wanted to let Chancey know about an organization called Project Walk. You may have already looked into it, but if not please do! My friend was given a 2-3% chance of ever walking again only 2 years ago, he is bearing weight on his legs and can walk with the assistance of a walker now because of determination and project walk
Chancey sounds like a great girl with true grit and determination, you can do it girl!
Here is the website

Location: Grandfield, OK | Chancey has gotten the cast off of her left arm and is using that arm now too. She has movement from her wrist up but still no fingers. Rehab is going good and she has learned to feed herself. Bedsore is much better and her sit time has been increased. Possibly will get out of the neck brace this week sometime. Spirits and faith remain good. She got to go to Church today and really enjoyed getting to go on such a special day. Thanks for all of the prayers and keep them coming. |
