I've been using them for a few months now and never had a problem until lately. I was at a race on Sunday and put them on when my horse was stalled between exhibitions and our run. When I took them off there was some minor swelling. Then this afternoon I tried it again for a few hours and just went to take them off and its puffy again!! And I made sure they were not swollen beforehand. Frustrating. When I first got them in Dec. I made sure to start gradually and they worked good. Not sure what the deal is now.

When my mare had surgery on her leg they would make it swell. Now a year later it keeps the swelling out. Your horse might have a new injury and need ice not heat. I would ice off and on for a few days

That's the reaction I got when I used it on my knee and it stayed blew up for a few days until I put mags back on it. I now use a Tommie Copper knee sleeve as the copper does not produce heat and I could never find a mag knee brace to stay on when I walk. I'm anxious to try the new MagnaCu on my horse when I start riding again.

They are a "heat" type of product and increase bloodflow, etc. When you have newer injury, the last thing you want to to is increase bloodflow because that will increase the swelling. It is possible you have a new injury of some kind. I usually use them as I would use a hot pack on patients (I work at as an Athletic Trainer and worked for years in a Physical Therapy offce). I always use the BOT products pre-race/pre-workout or during, never in between or after. Always ice post-race/post-workout.
