Can someone Please explain how The American rodeo is actually run ?    It's very confusing with all the qualifiers, regionals, ontenders, etc        Steps 1 thru the final four!  Clearly there has to be a hundreds of " qualifiers " to make the $$$$$$ work      But good grief it's confusing

I don't care anymore. It's a hauling contest won by the jockey who rides for the owner with the most money. The competition comes from the professional rodeo ladies who have so many big sponsors and drivers with more than one rig. Those are the ones that can make all the qualifiers u til they win then haul to the different semis then to Dallas. The local one horse wonder that we all looked for and rooted for can't do that. 

All I can say is that Teton Ridge has made a JOKE out of it ....... I gave them the benefit of the doubt but they have thumbed their noses at the REAL people (COWBOYS & COWGIRLS) that they "profess" to support and who want to watch the competition by taking it off of RFD and the Cowboy Channels. 

I agree with the confusion and lack of TV coverage, etc., but in the Contender finals the girl from nowhere Idaho beat quite a few of the big dogs to make it to Saturday night. So - there is sitll a little hope for those with that one good horse to be able to make a splash.

It's just another pro rodeo. 

Teton Ridge is going to, or already has ruined the American. RFD should of kept it, or Teton Ridge should of asked RFD to help them run it for a couple years to get their feet under them. I don't understand the regional thing, why not keep it the same way with the qualifiers, then the semi's? Is it televised this year or do you have to buy Teton Ridges streaming service? 

I think you can stream it live on Teton Ridge.  They are also playing the championship round only on Sat night on INSP at 9pm CST and then the full show Sunday night on CBS Sports Network at 9pm CST.  It is so dumb and confusing.

Does Stevi Hillman run Truck at any other rodeos? I just realized that the American is the only one I ever see him run at.

She runs him only in pens that suit him, as he is getting older. He just ran in Houston and won 2 rounds in their set and placed 2nd in the third run. He looked amazing!

Why do you care? It's no longer what ot started out to be. As others here have stated TR has ruined it.

I certainly don't think it is all Teton Ridge's fault.    Companies have to make money and his is no different i just think it got super confusing and i guess unless you actually downloaded the rules / guidelines you wouldn't completely understand it.        Yes, it would be nice if RFD could show it but they are plenty busy with showing the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo right now.        Teton Ridge has folks that work for him ( his company) that know about rodeo and horse shows so they had to have advised him on the new setup.

Is the American not live this year? I found it in INSP but it doesn't start until 8pm mountain time.  

My facebook page is filled with people who are very happy with Teton Ridge.  If you happened to catch the live finals of the top 5, Reiners, Working Cowhorses, and cutting horses last night you truly saw a good show.  I would much rather run for a Rolex and 100,000 cash and maybe a fancy diamond ring if you were on the winning team.  Didn't see many whiners in that crowd.  So you had to be best of the best to get there.  I do believe if it continues the small guy could get a shot, if good enough.

It startes at 6:45 maybe they will explain the rules.  I don't know when you all are happy with any coverage of NFR or anything.  I'm just happy someone is promoting and putting up money.  Yall seem a bit spoiled.  I remember when you got no coverage and not much money, especially for females.  I loved that a woman with about a 3 year old daughter walked away with a bunch of cash diamond ring, and Rolex watch.  Sometimes a good horse can level that playing field.  I'm over the Good Ole Boys Club, I lived it.

Well when you boycott some go all in.  There is no crowd I hope Cody Johnson will introduce some new blood.

I find it great the so far (with exception of the team roping) half of the finalist are million dollar elgible.  In the breakaway 3 of the 4 if you can beat Jackie Crawford you should get an extra bonus.  Same goes for if you beat Stetson Wright.  I think the coverage is pretty good.

ETA:  It is sold out, however I watched some qualifiers and last night for the other events.  I have to think many come to see Cody Johnson.  It will be interesting to see if they stick around for the finals.

I felt so bad for Sherry Cervi but when she gets that mare dialed in, she is going to be wicked.

I watched it on INSP and thought it was great watching!! Sure there are things that could use improvement, especially communication on where to watch. The online experience was not nearly as good, as watching it on INSP, but a big thumbs up overall! 

Is there a way to watch the whole thing on a firestick? I tried downloading CBS Sports and couldn't find it. I paid for Paramount plus because it has CBS sports but no luck there either. 

I have INSP and we were able to watch the final 4 but I'd like to watch the whole thing. 

The cowboy channel definitely did a much better job with coverage. 

We were only able to watch the final 4, What happened to Sherry Cervi?  She is such a hand with a horse.

Her mare slipped bad on the first barrel, but she sure looks fast.  I wonder why Haley didn't ride Sister?  And I know the Kiss horse is really fast, but she looks so slow to be that fast.  JMO

Not sure why everyone is saying Teton Ridge has ruined it? Is there not still a million dollar purse? I think it makes sense to have regional finals. Can you imagine qualifing but then your finances dont line up with driving to Texas for the semi? So weed some of the competitors out at regionals before you get to semis. Its just more of a bracket break down. 

The live stream was easy as can be. and it was FREE. Teton ridge plus sign up and click LIVE. Super easy. RFDTV is old school. Everyone complains about the younger generation not stepping in, but someone does and now its not good enough?

I for one am thankful to have watched and cheered on the little guy that did make it.

I just wish the Pro riders weren't allowed in the American. I wish the million dollars was for the folks that don't have the sponsors and big money...I guess they wouldn't sell tickets then. Maybe if you have been to the NFR you can't run at the American...maybe do that....lol. 

One issue is that we dont' have access to live stream out where we live...Sometimes "old school" becomes Old School because it works for more people in general with out needing internet connection in rurural areas where we can't get any.

The whole purpose of the American, as I understand it, was to let the world compete against the pro's to prove that the "weekend warriors" COULD run with the big dogs. I loved the American the first couple years. It was easy to follow - the top ten in the WPRA against the rest of the barrel racing world and the one invitee. But now it's too convoluted and we don't get service to livestream out here so I have lost interest. 

Yes! It started out as an equal opportunity. If you had a fast horse and the nerves to do it, you could run at a local qualifier and earn a trip to semifinals. Now it's a hauling contest that rewards the jockeys riding for the richest owners or best sponsors. Yes, the jockeys are talented. They are, for the most part, professionals or semi professionals. 

Last year when the "American" awarded two million to a "Brazilian" non-citizen I was done.

They were pulling embryos on Sister.  

And for the people who do not have access to RFDTV? Then what? Times are changing guys! No way will everyone ever be happy sadly. Have to go with the majority 

I for one was happy to be able to watch it. I don't have cable and am never able to watch the NFR unless I shell out the $90 or whatever it is for RidePass. Tetonridge streamed it for free and I thought did a good job with coverage. Plus their free under/over game was fun. 

She just ran him at 377 ranch and made an Amazing run!! 3/4/2024. There is 

a good chance we will see him today!!

Too bad you won't see them on TV ...... Teton Ridge is NOT broadcasting ANY of the American "live" ...... But you can watch it a WEEK later ..... NOT

From what I am hearing, it will be live next year. They have signed a 3 year contract with Fox and the deal was done too late to get everything in place to go live. This will be a HUGE deal for the rodeo world to have this on a majot network--HUGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
