I haven't ridden in a Martin Racer so I'm not sure. I think the only difference is how they fit you in the seat.

Since you're talking about horse fit, I will put in a big thumbs up for Martin. I took my horse to be fitted at Teskey's where they had 6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2, 8, 8 1/2, and 9" gullets. The saddle fits her very well, and I love what it does for me. Not all businesses that sell Martin saddles have all of the gullet sizes though. For example, NRS only had the 7" which I consider pretty narrow. I chose to get the roughout seat with no padding and it is very comfy.

I'm pretty sure that the basic tree style is the same, and they more change the seat. I have a Martin racer and the original Cervi and they seem to fit my horses pretty similar. I would get in contact with Martin if you have more questions, they have always been more than wonderful when I have worked with them.

I have both the racer and the crown c. The racer sits you more on your but and the c is more on the crotch. I have short legs so the racer works better for me. I'm 5'2.

I have two of the original Sherry Cervi Martins, and had a racer...traded the racer for one of the originals...loved the saddle, but it would severely chuck me forward on a ratey horse. I think the stirrups are hung a little more forward, then the original. I also think the originals have a flatter seat, and the racer has a tilt to it. I've sat in the Crown C's, but I won't even put them on my horse as I can tell they are not the type of saddle I like to ride!

I love my Martins!
