Location: Displaced Iowegian | I hope Andrea doesn't mind but she wrote this lovely tribute to Faster on FB...... I want to say thank you to everyone for all the kind words, messages, and prayers. I haven't gotten to reply to all of them yet, but I will as soon as I can get myself together more. It's been very hard since I lost Faster yesterday morning, and to be honest I'm not handling it very well. My heart is broken, and Faster took it with him. But, I know it's safe with him...He touched so many people with his kind personality and huge heart. Faster was truly a one of a kind horse, ...and if you ever got to meet him you couldn't forget him. He was so loving & gentle, and he always gave all he had to me when we graced the alleys. He was a dream to ride, and the amount of power you could feel under that saddle when he took that first push down the alleys and in the turns was breath taking. But, he always had me and my safety in mind, and no matter what he did his best to take care of me in the saddle....My name was on his papers, but I didn't "own" him. Instead Faster owned me. I just had the privileged of having him with me, and the honor of riding him and having him in my barn.... He stole my heart the first time I met him 12 years ago. There wasn't much to him some people might tell you at the time. He was just a untrained, solid liver chestnut 2 yr old stud with a star on his head, and a little spot on his right hind heel. But, he was absolutely beautiful to me, and I had to have him. The first time I laid eyes on him he stole my heart, and I could see "something" in his big brown eyes that he had a heart of gold and the sole of a Champion. I took a risk when I bought him, and I've never once regretted it. ...We spent years together on the road, and he always gave me everything inside of him when I gave him the reins. He stole the hearts of many people over the years. Although I know my "Bubbas" is now running down alleys made of gold, and the best ground of a barrel horse's dreams, I miss him more than words can describe.... Running Broke Quarter Horses and myself will never be the same. |
