Horse had slight swelling on rear ankle for a few days. Didn't seem to bother him, thought it was a little stocking up. Rode yesterday and he won't lope. Even on a lounge line. Braces up. Will call vet tomorrow but odd that he wasn't lame at the walk or trot.

Could be many things
Had one tore the joint capsule out of the joint, foot was a little puffy but she was still sound
Had one crush his collateral ligaments was a little off
Your horse may be just that tuff I think it is a good idea to get the horse vet checked

My older mare does that from time to time. It appears when her back is out. I get her adjusted and put ligament where she is sore. Swelling is gone next day.

Update, took to vet and he has an abcess. Wrapping in a poultice pack now. Never had one like this. his whole leg was swollen this morning. So relieved he didn't strain or break anything!
