 Can You Hear Me Now?
Location: When you hit the middle of nowhere .. Keep driving | My girl is a huge 16.3 and she looks like a blimp. She's at the end of March. My last 2 maidens hardly looked preggo. |

Location: Georgia | Thank goodness for this thread! I have been thinking that my maiden mare is getting way too large for her own good. She is due for an early April foal. She is one hefty mama. This is her at the beginning of this month.

dk66 - 2013-11-24 6:39 PM I have a maiden mare that is due to foal late April and she is huge! How big are your mares at 6 plus months?
Was she ultrasounded for twins?
US done at 15, 30, 60, and 90 days not a mention of twins at any of these intervals. Now that I have a great support group here I am not as nervous. |

I know you asked for maiden mares but my mare is in foal with her 2nd foal after she was open last year. We can't believe how much bigger she is this year than she was 2 years ago. She's huge and due April 25th. Last time she foaled 2 weeks early when I was 6 hours away at a rodeo. She'll do the same thing this year and foal when I'm in Lincoln. Sucha brat.
I am more than excited to hear about more than just the maidens so thank you! Let me ask you this, when this mare was a maiden, were you a nervous wreck with the first foaling? My mare is due during the BBR finals, what luck! |

What's the wives tail about which side sticks out more than the other?
That's a good one. Yesterday when I had the mare out I jumped on bareback. The baby was on the right side and stays on that side predominantly. After I pulled her up the little booger goes from the right to the left and could feel it behind my knee, kinda cool! |

My mare is not maiden, but she is due in May and is huge already!
How does your mare foal out, right on time, late, or early? |

I was an absolute basket case. She is my retired barrel horse and I've owned her since she was 6 months old so we're peanut butter and jelly. (o: Her due date was May 20th which was the day my daughter graduated from HS. I teased her that I was going to have to be with my 4 legged girl instead of graduation. Instead Baby foaled while we were at a HS rodeo 6 hours away on May 5th. My husband and son walked out in the morning and there lay a sweet baby. When they called me I thought they were kidding. Once they got it through to me we skipped out on the rest of the rodeo and high tailed it home. After this years foal is born I might be done. How many horses do I really need? The mare can be a pasture ornament. |

Location: Texas! | My maiden is not very big, just looks fat and happy :) She is also not due until the end of June so we still have a little until she'll really start showing. |

I am very happy to hear that I am not in the neurotic club all by myself. My husband thinks I have lost it already. I am sure it will be best for him to take a roping vacation in April LOL! |
