Grandaughter of a Champion Posts: 2956 Location: left field	I have a gelding with hard patches on his his hind ankles, they ooze out a yellowy scabby ooze that reminds me of tree sap, and they are sore to the touch. I've washed him with EQ Solutions, used MTG a few times and not much better. It would help if I knew what it was and what to put on it. Tried Vetrycin last night so I'll see how that works, but anyone know what this could be?

Member Posts: 37	sounds like scratches or mud fever to me. I use chlorhexadine shampoo. wash legs with it but dont rinse it off. next day do the same. takes about a week to really see a difference.

Experienced Mouse Trapper Posts: 3106 Location: North Dakota	Try desitin, highest amount of zinc oxide at Walmart, should dry it up, made a difference on my horse in a couple days but it takes quite a few weeks to get rid of them, maybe need a systemic antibiotic if really bad.
