He is showing sone symptoms of it. He is not urinating if he is it is very little. What r some other things to look for that may cause this? Also how long can a horse go without peeing? Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | My mare tested positive for EPM, and I was like you while waiting for the results...worried, scared, unsure, stressed, sad my horse was hurting for some unknown reason. BUT, I chose to look at it like this: Did I want her test to come back positive? Absolutely not! Because I didn't want her to have it! Did I want her test to come back negative? Well, no not really, because then I still wouldn't know what was wrong with her, and even worse, how to treat and help her.
She came back positive, and had gone from lethargic and a little footsore to full blown neurolgic--couldn't balance, couldn't walk right, didn't want to be touched (it was at this point she was tested, not when she was just lethargic--though that time frame was short). It was a heartbreaking diagnosis, BUT, one that there are GOOD treatments available for. I treated her, and she was HUGELY improved. Back to better than she was before I had pin-pointed that something was wrong. It took a few months to find the supplement and routine that works best for her, but she is better than ever now. So chin up, you are doing what is best for a horse that you love. Take it from me, living in the "what if" stage does nothing for you or your friend. |
