We got this Siberian Husky dog in at our shelter, he is almost 8 years and of course was never fixed, he will have surgery soon. He came from a very STUPID family that didn't teach him manners etc.... anyway when you walk him he will LIFT his leg very quickly and mark his territory on PEOPLE!! He does it so quick it's crazy..... HOW do we get him to stop????

Can you walk him with a belly band on so he's not peeing on people? then when he hikes his leg while walking you can distract him or reprimand him?

I agree with the belly band until he is neutered.
Neutering should help with that. I have an adult male who was left intact until adulthood and when I first got him he pulled that garbage also. Now he doesn't even mark anything. Takes a minimum of 30 sometimes 90 days for that testosterone to get out of his system though once altered.

Good Ideas... keep them coming!!! :
) the bugger does it SO quick! I'm going to have to watch and work with him! They need to get him neutered ASAP.

Well if you figure out how to teach him let me know. My heeler will do this to people he doesn't like but he is sneeky. He'll stand right over their boots while they pet him, looking them straight in the face wagging his tail then run off after he is done.

Basic psychology says you can counter condition the problem. If you have access to a mild shock collar
(because of his age
) I would put it on and if he does it, give him a shock. Shouldn't take long to end the behavior. You might also give him a treat for correct behavior. Negative and positive reinforcement at its best

I agree, exactly what I would do to him...he is at the shelter though and unfortunely I think they would frown on this.... dumb I know!
