So let me add my two cents on the subject of any pipeline - I just compeleted 150 mile line that covered most of southern Colorado - Front Range Project - for those uneducated people who have never worked on a line let me tell you what my day consisted of: 545 am be at yard turn in paper work (ie safety report, bell hole reports, and foreman's report detailing our days activities) be at the site which at time could be up to an 1.5 hour drive and let the work day begin I walked our right of way 6-10 miles to do bell hole reports in which I test the soil, air quality, and measure it for compliance to make sure it was safe for our crew - we lowered pipe - made a tie in and waited for xray to test it - we some times worked up to 15 hour days if we were in water body cause it had to be done in a 24 hour period - we had two inspectors with us at all times plus and environmental inspector that would come by at least once a day to insure we were with in compliance with our contract - and safety. Oh and by the way the town that we were based out of was on the verge of bankruptcy had this line not come through people were greatful for jobs and the boom in there economy - we bought clothes, ate food, bought gas all of which generated income. So you want to say that pipelines don't create jobs - WRONG -they don't help to stimulate the economy - WRONG - get your facts straight before you run your mouth and sweet heart I challenge you to work as hard as I do to support my daughter as a pipeliner I chuck 25lbs skids in 100 degree heat, or freezing cold depending on the year I work long days and have to be away from her to put food on the table and clothes on her back she lives a great life thanks to pipeline work -

-sigh- I can't stand the liberal thought about pipelines. I'm an environmental inspector like in the above post. When they start spout nonsense about permits and requirements, they can't know how my entire career is made of enforcing those same permits and requirements on pipeline contractors. MY. ENTIRE. CAREER. I'm in the field, at ground zero, 6-7 days a week. I've worked in 6 states in 5 yrs. Believe me, oil companies around the NATION obey those laws, or else they get shut down and the fines sometimes number into millions of dollars.
My beloved uncle has the Democratic intellectual tit in his mouth too, and it's a sad waste of a good mind. The only time I got him to shut the hell up was when I formally invited to spend a week with him on the Mexican border enforcing Permit 12 regulations. He made my point for me, that he didn't want anything to pop his little bubble for him, especially honest practical facts.

syrus - 2013-12-22 4:49 PM AND, just an XL FYI; Where John Boehner will profit from the pipeline’s 'construction' because he owns stock in seven Canadian tar sand companies, building the Keystone XL pipeline will profit Charles and David Koch by over $100 billion, the brothers and their Americans for Prosperity thug activist lobby group have sought to derail and roll back clean energy regulations and environmental protections across this country. The news that they own 2 million acres around Alberta Canada’s tar sand reserves along with their intent to pile up residue (petcoke-Google Calumet River near Chicago) from their tar sand refining operations, explains why they are on a crusade to eliminate clean air and water regs. If we Americans have learned anything about the Koch's fascist government interference it is they all include harming American citizens for profit and to satisfy their greed for power at the expense of environmental standards. The brothers spend millions of dollars to kill US, whether it is stopping the Affordable Care Act, eliminating Social Security and Medicare, cutting food assistance for poor women and children, or poisoning AMERICANS with tar sand residue. Be alert, be informed and don't bend over!!

The Natives own the lands surrounding the Alberta oil sands....oilfield companies lease it.....

I love your phrasing, accurate and a great visual.......if I was a teacher, I'd give you an A+ for it.  Sadly I now have extended family to which this applies.
