Location: Kentucky | My husband and I will have been together 10 years in April. I'm think of surprising him with a trip. Can anyone recommend some good all inclusive places in Cancun, Bahamas, etc? I'm not looking to spend thousands of dollars, which is why a lot of folks are saying Cancun would be best. |

Close to Cancun. Very reasonable for a five-star all-inclusive with a long list of awards! We loved every minute of it and everyone we met said it was the best place in Mexico they had ever stayed. |

| Ditto on staying away from cancun if ya can! I have been to both cancun and cozumel and absolutely hated cancun! I don't have any advice on where to book from but wanted to share my experience from cancun! It was very dirty in my opinion and I really didn't feel safe outside of the resort. The ocean water and pool water were not even refreshing as it was more like bath water.. and dirty too!! there was seaweed and trash everywhere you moved in the water. |

Location: Midwest Farmer's Daughter: Central Illinois | I went to Cancun in 2009 & stayed at the Golden Parnassus. It was a nice place, the beaches were clean, the pool was fun & the restaurants were decent. However, the room smelled a little musty & the bathroom, while not dirty, wasn't necessarily clean-looking either. The hot tub was broken the entire week I was there. I have read reviews on TripAdvisor & the last few months there are some really terrible ones, so it would seem that the condition of it has gone downhill.
Most of the places in Cancun that have amazing rates are not going to live up to your expectations & they will definitely not live up to their websites' pictures. There are some newer, great places but they are very expensive & are so for a reason.
One helpful hint - no matter where you decide to vacation, if you are at a resort they will probably try to suck you into a timeshare. They'll offer you free stuff (booze, food, etc) & tell you it's a short tour, when in reality it will take up half of your day or more & you'll be talking to multiple sales people who are trying to get you to buy in. Just say no up front & don't give in! |

Location: Over by those oil wells, TX | We've gone to the Barcelo Maya Beach on the Mayan Riviera for 10 years. It's an hour south of cancun. We get a junior suite and it's heaven! Here's one of the walkways between the buildings and the beach. They have a 2 mile long private beach not shared with other resorts or the public. Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We went to Jewel at Dunn's River in Jamaica for our 10th last month. We loved it!! It was super nice, the staff was awesome, and there was lots to do on and off resort. And Jamaica is just beautiful. We were able to do air fare and 6 days 5 nights for under $3000. I liked it way better than Mexico. |

If you would loke to go as our guest you get full member benefits and we get a discount on our next visit. Google it and if you're interested, I can give you the rates and more info tomorrow. It's an hour south of Cancun. |

Location: Under the Big Sky - Montana | This is where my younger sister goes every year. They went a couple times and enjoyed it so much they actually bought the time share. One of the few times I've heard it work out in someone's favor:

Just a word of caution though, it is adults only and you can be as private as you want but you also have the opportunity to be in some risquΓ© games that may leave you without your clothes. She has lots of those kinds of stories about their friends who get a little tipsy and get involved in things you don't want saved on film for posterity. |

It's great to hear positive feed back on the Jewel Dunn's River in Jamiaca, we're getting married there in December so far the staff and co-ordinator's have been awsome |

Location: Way up North | We went to Playa Del Carmen a few years ago through work, I can't seem to remeber the name of the resort though, and it was really nice. It was close enough to Cancun but not nearly as busy and springbreakish. The restraunts and bars were nice although you had to be up super early to get reservations to eat at something other than a buffet. The beach was being worked on while we were there (pumping sand back from the hurricanes) so we didn't get to use the beach the first few days but that wasn't a big deal. I will try to look up the name of the place but I am not sure of the actual costs.
We are going to the Sandals resort in the Bahamas in a few weeks, it's all inclusive but we have read mixed reviews about it. It's another work trip and we are pretty easy to please so as long as it's clean I will be happy!
Another option is doing a cruise, pretty reasonable but not entirely inclusive. We went on a cruise with the family last year and it was so much fun! We were on Norweign and other than the rooms being small (we were inner cabin, parents had balcony that were much bigger) everything was clean, had good entertainment, and great food. You have to pay an arm and a leg for drink passes or pay per drink but we aren't big on drinking so we just bought one here and there.

Location: Memphis, TN | We stayed at Secrets in Montego Bay for our honeymoon. They have a resort in Cancun as well. If it's anything like Montego Bay I highly recommend it! It's adult only which is really nice for anniversary or honeymoon trips. We thoroughly enjoyed Jamaica and would go back again. Before we went we heard a lot of negative stuff but if you research how to handle things and are prepared you don't get "shocked" by the atmosphere towards tourists. In all honesty the resort was so nice it was easy to enjoy ourselves without going off resort a ton. |

| Cancun at either Moon Palace (the quieter larger spread, beaches not as nice but better pools), Beach Palace (more downtown, water slides, amazing beaches, more family oriented). |
