Ok so my gelding has been gaping his mouth for as long as I have had him but only when you first put the bit in in mouth. I had his teeth done by a specialist and gave him a while to see if it would get better and tried many different bits. Same first reaction then works fine. Accompanied with this he tilts his head to the right with his nose out mainly when we lope circles. I am starting to think something is uncomfortable for him.

side note: he does have a heart murmur probably not the cause though.

You could then have him checked over by a confident Chiropractor.

After getting his teeth done did the horse dentist put his poll back in place, sometimes they need their poll worked on after having their teeth worked on.

No he did not. Problem was occurring before they were done too.

I recently had a mare doing that and her neck was out in 3 places. After the chiro worked on her, she went right back to loping nice and fluid with her head held correctly.
