| Since everyone's mind is in the fat today . . .
I need to find a non-grain, non-processed (or at least very minimally) source of fat to feed horses that have been taken off bagged feed. Whatever I figure out needs to go into a bucket and act like evening feed, as in dump it into a feed tub and be eaten. So palatability and form is important. I can't do just soy or flax oil because there's nothing to stick it too, same with mealy supplements. I usually feed both soy oil and weight builder when I want to add fat. They do not need any more protein in their diets.
The rest of the diet is: 5-6 pounds of 25% protein very high quality western alfalfa 15-18 pounds of a 16-18% timothy orchard mix hay
They are all looking good, no ribs, no beliies, parasites too low to worry about (did 3 samples), but come spring when I start riding hard again I will want those horses to have fat in their diet. |

| I don't think a drive to PA or TN is realistic to pick up some fat for a horse. NOTHING in VA, MD, NC, WV.
If this is made by Manna Pro, and Tractor Supply is a Manna Pro distributor, why the heck aren't they carrying it? |

There's no harm in asking them to start.
Another option that may or may not work, my neighbor just became a distributor for Hay-Rite alfalfa cubes. The company itself only sales wholesale and no one anywhere near us distributes. So she became a distributor herself, where she gets a semi load, takes what she needs for her farm, then has it worked out with the local feed store to sell the rest.

I tried getting my TSC to carry RG for me since it is on their website and they are Manna Pro distributors. They did some checking and said its only available in certain areas of the US on a trial basis and South Dakota isn't one of them. |

Location: NC | Stabilized rice bran. It comes in meal or pellet form from most places.
If you can find it at a mill, it's cheaper. TSC carries the stabilized rice bran made by Manna Pro I believe it is who makes it. They have pellets or meal. It's pricey, but one pound goes a long way.
Rice bran is considered a forage. It's a very healthy source of fat, as is flax seed.

Each Tractor Supply store does not do the ordering for their individual stores.....all orders are placed by the buyer at the headquarters in TN. So even if you ask your local store for it, it's honestly out of their control. |

That makes sense. I ended finding a different feed and hopefully my old man will do well on it and I can get it in stock any time. |

Location: South TEXAS | just started the renew gold last week and im feeding 1#crimped oats with it per day during the transition from total equine. I like the concept behind it and hope it works. my TSC couldn't get it without ordering a pallet, but I called Pheonix and the next day I had a local co op ordering it for me.
