Just like other injections, you have to do it on an as needed basis. My horse gets his SI injected about once a year and stays sound.

What do they do to make you think they need it injected?

Do you know why the horse needs injected? I had my gelding done because the vet recommended it. He was always sore in that area after a run. Had his hocks done too even though the x rays were clean
(vet recommended
).
The SI lasted about 3 months and he was worse than ever so I had another vet spend 3 hours checking him out. Last exam showed he had broken his pelvis at some point. To continue SI injections make him feel better, but to continue to run him really isn't fair.
My only point is it is good to know why a horse needs injected as some vets are just injection happy.

I was running with a treeless saddle for a long time and it made her back real sore ,the vet injected her SI and stifle and she was a new horse

Also curious as to what everyone is noticing movement wise in the hind end...I've always been curious to see if my horse could benefit from this but haven't found the right vet to diagnose.
